NY Governor throws himself under the bus

Patriot Retort: In attempting to defend his offering gobs of financial incentives to woo Amazon to New York, NY Governor Andrew Cuomo had some harsh words for … well, NY Governor Andrew Cuomo.

“It’s not a level playing field to begin with,” Cuomo said of the business environment he himself created. “All things being equal, if we do nothing, they’re [Amazon] going to Texas.” [Hat tip The New York Times]

You know, I’ve heard of governors who toss their predecessors under the bus for bad state policy.

But this is the first time I’ve witnessed a governor throw himself under the bus.

This might come as a shock to him, but NY Governor Andrew Cuomo has been governor since 2011. And this “un-level” playing field he’s bitching about?

Yeah, he’s the one who built it.

  1. As a life long NYer, Cuomo and his Dad have raised taxes every chance they had. People are leaving in droves and no company comes in unless they get huge tax incentives to do so, while everyone else gets zip. State employees vote for the Democraps because they keep getting state benefits and great retirements. RACKET – yes

  2. Yes, yes he did.

But what a small price to pay for the massive financial contributions and WaPo media support when he next runs for office. Because people think that these deals are done for economic reasons, even if ill-advised.

  3. Sooo… small business and middle income taxpayers will provide and lift the playing field for Bezos? Amazon does not manufacture or produce anything of tangible value, he only competes with traditional business for the same dollar. It’s a smoke and mirrors shipping game.
