SAF FILES AMICUS BRIEF IN SUPPORT OF 9TH CIRCUIT GUN RIGHTS RULING

CFP: BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation has filed an amicus brief in a case that successfully challenged the State of Hawaii’s regulatory scheme for carrying firearms in public for personal protection, in which defendants have asked for an en banc hearing before the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals after a three-judge panel ruled against the state.

SAF is asking the court to reject the en banc request, and accept the decision of the panel in favor of plaintiff George Young in the case that is known as Young v. Hawaii. In July, the appeals court ruled that the Second Amendment protects the right to openly carry a firearm for self-defense.

“The 9th Circuit panel ruling was proper recognition that the right to bear arms extends beyond the confines of someone’s home,” noted SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. 1. SAF is rock solid. I don’t give money to NRA ILA, but I give to support the NRA’s competition and training programs. Gun Owners of America and SAF get money I give for Second Amendment defense.

THe NRA ILA is loaded up with swamp creatures that are either too close with establishment Republicans or move in and out of government. Until there is a general house cleaning over there I don’t see them as anything other than an appendage of the deep state.

FWIW, I am Benefactor and all three of my kids are Life NRA members. I am not at all anti-NRA, but I am not a fan of the NRA ILA.

  2. @JDHasty – Gottlieb has a couple of rough edges and he’s made a couple of missteps, but they’re nits compared to what he’s accomplished in the courtrooms. He’s much more effective than the NRA ILA, as you point out. Plus, he saved JPFO from going under after Aaron Zelman passed away in 2010. SAF gets my support. NRA, too, but less.
