  1. “Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.” That’s all these ‘people’ understand; since the government fails to apply the rule-of-law, the people need to apply the ‘tribal justice’ standard. Much more harsh, but this is the result of societal collapse; certain elements (subcultures) refuse to abide by the social contract, therefore they should not reap the benefits of that society…including rule-of-law.

  2. Does it really matter if the victim was autistic? The implication here is if he wasn’t autistic it wouldn’t be as horrible. How is that even possible? The disgusting thing is the violent act itself, not who the victim is. It would be just as outrageous and disgusting if the victim was a perfectly average Joe.

The vicious animal who will be walking free despite this attack will attack someone else in no time flat.

  3. Totally agree with Odin…. home-grown militias and home-grown justice will be necessary. Let the punishment fit the crime, instead of slaps on the wrist and ‘therapy.’ – what a crock!

If nobody obeys the laws on the books, then what good are they?

  4. For Pete’s sake! Isn’t it enough that these animals attacked another person? Why is it important that he is autistic? Is this a new protected group. As far as I can tell, every other kid has been diagnosed as autistic! One can’t swing a dead cat (or choose a beating victim) without hitting an autistic person……. Unprovoked assault should stand on its own.

  5. Sorry kids, but beating on the helpless, the retards, the “impaired,” the halt, the lame, and those tied to chairs shows a particularly robust bent for sadistic behavior.
Yes, the crime of assault and battery is the same. Yes, the punishment should be the same.
But any legal effort at proving “mitigating circumstances” for the accused is rendered moot.

  6. Actually he was sentenced to one year in prison but was released on time served because he would have been released from prison after serving the same amount of time he had spent in jail already once the time off for good behaviour and the like had been factored in. He now has a criminal record for assault, has to spend two years on probation, is unlikely to ever travel outside the country and a number of other things that will now affect his life forever.
I’m not defending this dumbass bully but the sentence he received seems appropriate for the crime.

  7. scr_north: your state, your rules.

I’d suggest to you he was held on bail because he was either a flight risk or considered a danger to the community. He wasn’t held because he was guilty; he needs to serve the sentence for the actual crime. Just my $0.02 (Canadian).

  8. @ODIN 2013; Hi Odin. he was held in prison so bail didn’t enter into it. A prison is a prison and if he was held in custody regardless of the reason then the time he was in the can counted toward any sentence he eventually received. I think that’s fair. I also think it’s your system as well.
