Breaking911: The U.S. Geological Survey says a preliminary magnitude 7.1 earthquake has hit off the coast of South America near Antarctica.
The center of the activity was 48 km north of Bristol Island, South Sandwich Islands. There are active volcanoes on Bristol Island — the last recorded eruption was in 2016. more here
