Strzok and Page Texts Wiped Clean… and Not With a Cloth

DC-

The Inspector General’s office of the DOJ revealed Thursday that it was unable to recover thousands of text messages sent between Strzok and Page through the course of their employment during the 2016 presidential election. Strzok and Page were carrying out an affair at the time of their employment while also playing central roles in the investigations of the Trump 2016 campaign and special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

The DOJ IG said in its report that iPhones issued to Strzok and Page had been reset to factory settings in 2017, preventing investigators from gaining any data from them.

  1. Every other time the authorities blow the evidence, a case is thrown out. (how many violent criminals get released that way?).

The Russian Collusion case is such a nothing-burger that they’ve resorted to something so laughable as this?!

It’s a sign that Mueller, Comey, etc may be a flight risk!

  2. The moment they were told that the iPhone are reviewed then rest and put on the shelf for future issue they ought to have looked at every iPhone on the shelf to see if they had all been wiped. If they found some that hadn’t been then they know they are being flat out lied to. Hell, maybe they did but I doubt it. Oh, and the person that was supposed to review the iPhone prior to reset but didn’t needs to be fired regardless of the excuses.

  3. Here’s The Independent, smugly reporting about the FBI “error” in collecting the texts.
I wonder if they would feel the same way if their interests were being compromised-

    >>>The FBI’s automated collection tool failed to collect five months of text messages between the agents due to a technology failure, according to a report released by the Justice Department’s office of the inspector general.

During the period in which the texts were unaccounted for, Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd acknowledged the automatic tool’s technical errors, blaming the problem on “misconfiguration issues related to rollouts, provisioning and software upgrades that conflicted with the FBI’s collection capabilities”.

The inspector general’s office, a watchdog group within the Justice Department, located more than 9,000 texts transferred on Mr Strzok’s phone that had previously not been included in its probe, noting a case of systemic and widespread failure with the automatic tool used by the FBI. At least six separate department-issued electronic devices used by Mr Strzok and Ms Page were included in the probe.

“The FBI’s collection tool was not only failing to collect any data on certain phones during particular periods of time, it also does not appear that it was collecting all text messages even when it was generally functioning to collect text messages,” the office said in its report on the investigation, adding it would later submit a recommendation on how to reform practices surrounding the preservation of employee communications.>>

Don’t worry people. They are reforming practices for the next time.
    Move along.

  4. The stink from the swamp keeps rising.

Don’t worry, as soon as the Dems take over the house in January the stink will be gone as the only thing being investigated after that will be Trump

  5. My semi-educated guess is that a few senior DOJ/FBI executives were fully aware of both the collection failures and the standard procedure of clearing/resetting phones turned in for reuse. Having things broken suited them just fine. Now they can point to the techies as the culprits, and have plausible deniability. The guy who wipes phones is not in a position where he’d know anything at all about what the people returning the phones were working on; he’s just a low level button pusher. And the guy (if there actually is one) who “reviews” phone message contents probably has to wade through enough crap that he has no way of knowing what’s relevant and what’s not.
