California Teachers Unions Tout Radical ‘#RedForEd’ Movement as Strike Looms in Los Angeles

Breitbart: Teachers unions are holding up the radical #RedForEd movement to fuel their demands for higher wages and more public school funding as a strike looms this week in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).

The nation’s largest teachers union – the National Education Association (NEA) – has been promoting #RedForEd as a movement to challenge what it views as an attempt to privatize public education via the school choice initiative launched by current Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

In a statement to USA Today, a DeVos spokesperson said the “false narrative that the Secretary is anti-teacher is nothing more than a political ploy.”  MORE HERE

  1. I offer that California teachers should provide a free public education for all the children from other countries here illegally.

Expensive? Surely, but it could be readily funded from the vast amount of money in their pensions funds.

  2. I really don’t think that parents right across your country (and mine) quite realize that teachers spend more time with their children than they do. If a teachers union decides to indoctrinate the children they certainly can and, in some states have. Far too many parents are quite content on letting teachers raise their kids, install their own moral compass, teach them their version of right and wrong while the parents accumulate success outside the home in business or their careers. Shame.

  3. I predict that the school district will “cave” and give the teachers a big pay increase and more benefits that those in the private sector can only dream about.

I also predict that the teachers union will increase its campaign contributions to the politicians who “caved.”
