A decision in favor of 2A in Austin??? Check the skies for pigs.

Free Beacon-

The city of Austin violated Texas’ gun law by restricting licensed citizens from carrying concealed firearms at Austin City Hall, a court ruled today.

The Travis County District Court ruled the city violated Texas’ open carry law and imposed a fine for each violation which was far below the fine the City of Austin could have faced.

In today’s ruling the District Court agreed with the attorney general’s office and protected the Second Amendment in this case. The City of Austin violated the state’s open carry law on six occasions, the court indicated, and ordered the city to pay a fine of $1,500 for each violation.

The lawsuit against the city of Austin was filed in July 2016 by Attorney General Ken Paxton after a resident with a concealed gun permit complained he was turned away on several occasions from Austin City Hall.

During the trial the attorney general’s legal team asked the court to impose a fine of over $750,000 on the city. Under Texas law, the city could have been fined $1,500 a day for the more than 500 days it barred citizens from bringing handguns into City Hall since the lawsuit’s filing.

  1. …nice ruling, but fining “a city” is stupid. They just pay it out of taxpayer provided insurace if it’s a specific councilman, or out of taxpayer (productive citizen, i.e. Republican) money if not, so they ain’t gonna learn any lesson from it, and will just try again later.

    Should jail the bastards instead.

I wonder why they’re afraid of their own, law-abiding citizens, though…maybe they should think about what THEY’RE doing wrong instead…

  2. An entire building filled with teeth chattering libs at the idea of a firearm on the premises.
They get a taste of how the public feels when they’re busily passing laws that restrict our rights and threaten the citizens with the threat of force.
    A little uncomfortable?

  3. I just found it amusing that CCW license holders were barred from carrying in those buildings. Because if I remember one particular FBI report correctly, CCW license holders, as a group, are charged and convicted of crimes of violence at a lower rate than sworn police officers.

  4. …the sad fact of the matter is that all the laws they pass ONLY apply to the law-abiding, @Lowell. And there is no better definition of law-abiding than a CCW holder.

And they hate US the MOST. Because we DARE defend ourselves without the State, it breaks their monopoly of force. That makes us not to be trusted, in the eyes of a Statist…

Probably plenty of people carrying in the room WITHOUT a CCW, tho…but THOSE are their brown shirts, and ALWAYS welcome.

…what it comes down to, I’ve said many times.

    …It’s not GUNS they hate…

    …It’s YOUR guns.

And they will stop at NOTHING to take them from you…
