MSNBC’s Katy Tur: George Washington Was ‘Native Son of New York’

WFB: MSNBC host Katy Tur said Monday that Founding Father and first president George Washington, a famous Virginian, was a native New Yorker and “New York’s big papa.”

“You know, it is George Washington Day here in New York, unlike the rest of the country, because George Washington, native son of New York,” she told MSNBC’s Ari Melber during her sign-off in a moment first noticed by Newsbusters.

“Big up, big New Yorker. East Coast. He was known as an East Coast one,” Melber responded.

“That’s right. He was New York’s big papa,” she agreed.

In fact, Washington was born, raised, and spent the bulk of his life in Virginia at his ancestral home of Mount Vernon. MORE

  1. Of course. Liberals don’t know history. If they did, they wouldn’t be liberals. It doesn’t take a genious to understand that Leftist tyrants have to kill millions in trying to get their ideas to work.

  2. Katy Turd is simply showing us how the younger generations were taught in skool to play fast and loose with the facts. The only thing that counts for them is intentions, and feelings.
Wait till she finds out he had his own recipe for beer.

  3. @ Jetro – Well, we ran and rowed from Brooklyn to Manhattan and then points north from there. I WAS THERE.

1st Pennsylvania took almost 90% casualties at Brooklyn aka The Battle of Long Island.

After retreating up to White Plains and then Peekskill, we rowed across the Hudson to NJ and then down to Trenton and well you all know what happened there, very proud of the 14th Mass contribution!

GW was a GREAT leader, General, farmer, surveyor, planner and had GRAVITAS from his service in the French and Indian War. He made the correct decisions all the way, from the begining to the end…right up to Newburgh.

    Look up The Sullivan Expedition.

We were of about the same age when I served under his command. And we DIED around the same age as well!

  4. Not only does she not know her history, but she also doesn’t know her “Hamilton”. Washington admonishes Hamilton when he whines about “these Virginians” and says that he, too, is Virginian. She must be one of those people who listens but doesn’t hear.

Last year I read Bill O’Reilly’s book about the Rev. war, called “Killing England” or “Killing King George” or something similar. It was an excellent read, as are all of Bill O’s books.
