I didn’t get the impression this was done on purpose. Critters can do the strangest things and get tangled up in things by accident. That happened to Zoe when she was quite young. I had a bedspread that had crocheting on the borders. She got her head stuck in it and was turning round and round to get out. Thank God, I walked into my bedroom in time and saw that she was choking! I cut her out then threw the bedspread away!
I loved the reaction of the doggie! Brave cop, God bless him.
My longhaired dachshund got his rear paw nail stuck in a knot under his ear. It was pretty much the same scene.

I agree with Claudia. I think somehow the awning came loose and maybe the dog laid down on the cloth and got tangled that way. Happy dog nevertheless.
I also agree with Claudia. I had a dog do that once with a pop up canopy. He somehow or another got caught up in the tie down rope and then managed to pull the entire thing down, had the rope wrapped around him as well as the tarp. Of course then he was freaked out, it was quite the rodeo to catch him, get the tarp off to discover how tight he had the rope twisted around him. Finally got him cut loose, but the canopy was ruined, tarp had holes and he had managed to bend or break all the poles.
He was fine though, other than a small cut from one of the metal poles he had broke.
Well… regardless of what actually happened, the doggy hug made it all worthwhile! Thank you, Mr. BFHat!
