Montana: Switchblade Ban Repeal and Knife Law Preemption bill is signed

Signing Ceremony: Knife Rights’ MT Switchblade Ban Repeal & Knife Law Preemption Bill

Montana – -(AmmoLand.com)- Tuesday afternoon in Helena, Montana Governor Steve Bullock held a signing ceremony for Knife Rights’ Montana Switchblade Ban Repeal and Knife Law Preemption bill, HB 155.

Knife Rights Board member Ethan Becker attended representing Knife Rights. Ethan presented the Governor his first ever automatic knife, a specially inscribed Protech SBR, as an award in recognition of his signing of the bill.

We’d like to acknowledge our good friend Dave Wattenberg, owner of Pro-Tech Knives, who turned around this short notice special request, literally, overnight. These Pro-Tech Les George-designed SBR (Short Bladed Rockeye) autos are their newest introduction.

Also attending was activist Joe Paschal and ACLU of Montana Director of Advocacy and Policy S.K. Rossi.. Not in attendance was Knife Rights member and activist E.J. Redding, who went the extra mile for knife owners in Montana and played a critical role in this accomplishment. Bill sponsor Rep. Casey Knudsen worked closely with Knife Rights’ Director of Legislative Affairs, Todd Rathner, on HB155, and deserves our gratitude for his significant efforts which resulted in the bill’s passage and the Governor’s signature.

All involved also received one of the inscribed Pro-Tech SBRs in recognition of their vital assistance in getting HB155 enacted.

  1. Bet the UK might appreciate this, if only it had included Machetes.
Nightly there is a 2 plus hour paid program in the US by Cutlery Corner.
Who the F’ needs 287 knives for $187.99?
‘All involved also received one of the inscribed Pro-Tech SBRs in recognition of their vital assistance’.
    Now you know who did!

  2. Switchblades were banned by the same liberal asses scared of their own shadows – and they want company, even if it kills us.

Bring back nunchucks too. Let us protect ourselves.

  3. all existing local knife ordinances more restrictive than state law can no longer be enforced.

This is Florida’s gun law. Instead of the NRA chasing around every township that passed a slightly revised gun ban to be struck down by the courts every 2 years, the state has the final say, and lower districts have none.

Do this at the Federal level with the 2nd Amendment, and we will be back to a Constitutional government again.

This cocksukker will let you have a blade but wants your rifle and mags. Thank God he terms out in 2020.

  5. …Knife laws are even stupider than gun laws in many places. For example, in Ohio you can legally carry a knife, but ONLY if your INTENTION is NOT to “go armed”. This means the policeman has to know what was in your mind when you put the knife in your pocket, look at the knife and various things about it (how long is it? Does it have a double edge?) and also what you’re doing at the time (hunting knife while hunting = OK, hunting knife while at Wal-Mart = Not OK), etc., etc., etc.

Also, there is NO such thing as “legal” concealed carry. I have a CCW to carry a MUCH more deadly weapon than a knife, but that same document does NOT allow me to carry a concealed knife in Ohio, even though there is little doubt that the intention with a gun IS to “Go armed” and it is MUCH more effective at reaching out and touching someone, at least at longer ranges.

Most police I know won’t do anything about a knife if you’re not being an idiot about it, but it’s always there as a convenient way to lock you up if they don’t like you for some other reason. And it makes no sense, because, again, they certainly aren’t going around the inner-city and checking if THEY have the knives, it’s MUCH more likely the little White kid at the mall gets his taken away than the Muslim or South American that’s steeped in violent knife culture, because, politics.

BTW, I do NOT recommend knife fighting unless you’ve trained and/or practiced it in some way. It IS a skill, and even people who are GOOD at it will tell you that EVERYONE walks away from a knife fight bloody, it’s just that some are bloodier than others.

The switchblade thing is kind of another issue. I’ve had switchblades and the real issue is them not coming open in your pocket and making blood salad out of your hand when you reach in, or getting your butt or nads pierced by an errant opening. Many manufacturers make these cheaply for sale to tourist to get around local laws, and the locks range from ineffective to non-existent. Also, the action is kind of like the sound of a pump shotgun in that it’s really better at intimidation than anything else because the rapid deployment LOOKS scary, but the knife itself tends to be weak and not durable enough for an actual knife fight unless you are REAL good, your opponent is otherwise unarmed, or you can end it quickly. A full-tang, fixed blade knife will handily end a threat from a switchblade wielder. If you want a flashy draw in a compact knife, a butterfly knife is prettier to watch anyway, and probably less likely to cut your own hand.

That said, I don’t think the Government should be making our knife choices.

When we were a colony, the British Government was so concerned about having no potential for challenge that they even made colonist break the points off the kitchen knives, by order of the King.

What King is ordering us off our knives NOW?

  6. When will enough gun laws really be enough?
With the number of laws and their redundancy already on the books it seems to me that there will NEVER be enough and to add more to the mix seems like the definition of insanity…more and more guns laws and the effect is the same…bad people kill people, with cars, knives, fists and yes even guns…and we should hold those PREDATORS in low/no regard….imagine a loved one of yours as the victim.

The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America was expressly written in by our founders as a tool for citizens to protect this same United States of America from the menace of a tyrannical government that could and may be rising in this country. It was not put into the Bill of Rights for the purpose of duck hunting or target practice. It is to counter tyranny and to do so adequately it permits military style weapons including full automatic assault weapons exactly like the ones that will be used against the populace in the event of a tyrannical assault upon us.

The founders of this great country had seen it all in the countries they emigrated from and they were extremely prescient to foresee the same kind of menace someday being perpetrated on this country by our very own government. Tyranny, whether they understand their actions as such, is very high on the mind of way too many people residing within the borders of the United States of America..way too many.
Our culture as the safest place in the world for people in need of rescue is being subverted by enemies, outside and inside of our great country. Forces of evil want to dissolve our culture to that of some third world banana empire..if you look you can see it….just listen to the proclamations or should I say rantings of Pelosi and omar and tlaib and schume, antifa..THE LEFT… WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

There is only one solution to the violence committed upon our citizens whether by guns, knives, baseball bats or whatever devise happens to be available to the perpetrator of the willful violence.

Remember that there will always be guns and depriving law abiding people of their 2nd Amendment RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS puts them AT THE MERCY OF CRIMINALS WHO DON’T RESPECT ANY LAW AT ALL.

INSTEAD OF GUN CONTROL WE DESPERATELY NEED CRIMINAL CONTROL.
I HAVE THE ONLY SOLUTION TO REDUCE GUN VIOLENCE IN ANY AND ALL COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD……bleeding hearts and soy boys and progressives and wusses can stop reading because I am about to say how we as law abiding citizens can protect ourselves nearly 100% against the human predators that we seem to give SO MUCH UNFOUNDED sympathy to.

    HERE IS THE SOLUTION:

In America, where we have the RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS, we need to eliminate ALL gun laws.
THAT’S RIGHT, YOU HEARD ME…………….ALL GUN LAWS! ( they haven’t worked and NEVER will because the criminals just do not obey gun laws or any other law.) All present laws are directed at the law abiding portion of our society. When we restrict THEIR use of the guns they would like to use we do not prevent gun violence, BUT WE ENCOURAGE IT….GUN FREE ZONES, DO I NEED TO SAY MORE? Our politicians that advocate for gun control only advocate for the criminal to have guns…..they, the gun control politicians among us are the MOST STUPID OF HUMAN BEING ON THE PLANET AND NEED TO BE VOTED OUT OF OFFICE…..listen to their rhetoric…it’s mindless.

LET’S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS…………this is short and sweet.

When a gun is brandished or used in the commission of a crime the brandisher or user, when apprehended will, within twelve hours of arrest, be remanded to a secure prison facility not less than 2000 miles from his/her home FOR FIFTY YEARS and assigned to HARD LABOR for a minimum of sixteen hours a day, fed only gruel and no in-house facilities such as TV, library weight room ,basketball court…just PUNISHMENT! Also not permitted visitors for fifteen years except for an annual visit of a defense lawyer. The trial of the accused shall be conducted in absentia and only for the purported crime not for the firearms violation.
If a death is incurred during the commission of the crime the criminal shall be executed within one year of apprehension in the facility of his incarceration.

LET’S RID OURSELVES OF THESE SAVAGE PREDATORS. THEY’RE NOT WORTH ANY CONSIDERATION!

    > Do this at the Federal level with the 2nd Amendment

The Second Amendment already does. Always has.

    > and we will be back to a Constitutional government again
