Joe Biden can’t open his mouth to praise someone without a segregationist blast from the past coming out. Segregationaists, apparently, were the only people he knew.
And the flak he’s getting on it is entertaining, but it’s kind of a diversion. As the old geezer praises ‘civility’ and other virtues of the men of his party, the hair-raising specter is rising: Segregationists were pretty much the heart and soul of the Democratic Party. It wasn’t a fringe or regional group. It wasn’t a few outliers. It was the main thrust of the Democratic Party and recently enough that Biden knew its proponents.
Republicans have known this for a long time – just the history of the civil rights movement, with the Bull Connor Democrats who tried to stop it every step of the way, often violently, pretty well shows how intensely the Democratic Party was the party of racism. It certainly explains why people such as Martin Luther King, Jr. and Condoleezza Rice, were lifelong Republicans. I know Black leaders in South Central Los Angeles who come out of this same tradition – and remain Republicans – even though they probably vote Democrat. Biden’s inability to open his mouth without citing these heart-and-soul-of-the-Democratic Party segregationists shows just how extensive the problem really was.
And Biden, unwittingly, stands as a proxy for the history of the Democrats just by being himself…..

But, but, but, there was this, kinda, sorta, a thing, that, ah, Nixon and, er, the Southern Strategy, and their was a weird, um, you know, magic, and the Democrats became Republicans and the Republicans became Democrats, because, we say so, so all the bad Democrat stuff is REALLY Republican stuff, and Lincoln was actually a Democrat because of the ’70’s voodoo that switched the labels in the minds of EVERY SINGLE PERSON LIVING IN THE UNITED STATES AT THE TIME SIMULTANEOUSLY, and this was exactly because yadda, yadda, yadda, bingidy bangidy boom, and also you should just ignore all the racist stuff that Democrats have done SINCE then too, because everyone KNOWS Trump’s a rayciss even without any proof whatsoever, and anyway, HEY, LOOK, OVER THERE, THERE’S TRUMP OBSTRUCTING A SQUIRREL, QUICK CALL NADLER AND SCHIFF, THEY’LL GET HIM, AND DON’T YOU OPPRESS ME WITH FACTS AND STUFF BECAUSE YOU’RE RAYCISS TOO, AND AAHHHHH! Democrat politicians think all black people are stupid (and most white people too – except for themselves). This is why they have no self-awareness when they say it’s racist to expect people of color to have ID in order to vote – implying that they are too stupid to know how to get an ID. Plus the fact they don’t want voter ID so their people can cheat at the polls.
And here I thought was just a glad-handy know-nothing of run-of-the-mill politician, but if Joe can educate dem voters on the true nature of the party, I’ll have to salute him as a regular guy.
It’s hilarious (and telling) that 0bama’s pick for VP was a segregationist/racist all along.
