American Thinker: Nat King Cole recorded “Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer” way back in 1963. In “Those days of soda and pretzels and beer,” summers were hot, and the only thing frosty was the beer. Not so much this summer.
The summer solstice passed a few days ago, the longest day of the year with the most sunshine. Only a couple of weeks before July 4th, thoughts are on hitting the beach or pool, with the only worry being about whether sunscreen is going to save your life or kill you.
But not this year. Portions of Colorado are under “a winter weather advisory this weekend” as reported by the Denver Post, with “snowfall expected in the mountains.” Wait a minute, it’s officially summer, isn’t it?
This is not just a few snow flurries. “Snowfall of 2-6 inches is expected this weekend for altitudes about 9,000 feet, and slush could accumulate along mountain passes. Some road closures have been issued due to adverse weather conditions.” Such a forecast is common in January, but not in late June.
I lived in Great Falls Montana in the 60s and 70s. In July of ’69 we had a freak snow storm. What fun we had! It was mostly gone the next 2 days.

We froze our asses off camping at Farragut state park on Lake Pend’ Oreille in N. Idaho over the 4th of July weekend in 1971 when it got below freezing at night. And I’ve seen snow in NE Washington state while huckleberry picking in late August just before Labor Day as well. And there’s still plenty of snow high up in the Bitterroot Mtns. just West of Hamilton, Mt.

The only thing that is freakish about the weather is the “climate change” crowd.

I remember when I was a kid in the 70s here in good ol’ Indiana seeing snow in May.

I had an argument with a man in the local bar about global warming.He said he remembered the snow banks over his head in the mid 1970’s. I asked his age it turns out he would have been around five to nine years old. He is six feet tall now and thinks the snow banks are smaller now because he can see over them and that’s all the proof he needed. the whole bar looked at their drinks in unison.

Ive never verified this but its said that people have frozen to death every month of the year on Mt Washington in NH and every day is the anniversary of a snow fall in some year or other.
