Not kidding, CNN reports that white robots are racist

When I can afford a robot to do all my menial tasks, like shine my shoes, wash the car, do my laundry, perhaps pick my crops, I’m buying a black one, because CNN told me having a white one was racist.

  7. No surprise at all. Expect denouncements of anything “white”. Light bulbs, linen, paper, pets, crayons, paint, and of course all those oppressive “white” marks on America’s highways and byways. The most offensive clearly are cross walks. Why there are even rare raycists born in nature in the form of albinos lacking any pigmentations and appearing white. Close enough for Clown Network? Absolutely.

  10. FWIW, I work in a heavily automated business, with many ACTUAL robots in industrial applications. I am responsible for 15 large Cartesian robot arms, 7 Delta robots, and 1 gantry robot from the ’80’s, and none of them are White.

    Assuming they are talking about the predominant color, of course. They aren’t clear. Like most things in life, they are not as homogeneous as CNN would LIKE them to be.

    I have a grey one, 7 Black ones, a stainless steel one, and the rest are yellow. Does that mean that we over-represented Asians? The yellow ones ARE from Japan, after all. Are we open to a reverse discrimination suit? Should we be considering some repatriations for the Black ones, maybe more electricity and shorter days? Is is racist for us to make the Yellow robots do most of the work? The mind boggles…

    Also, as far as the Hollywood pantheon of unlikely mobility and AI robots being White, the last time I looked, most of those robots spend at LEAST part of their time killing people and being evil. And no one can argue that Will Smith is not the hero in “I, Robot” in particular, and the last time I looked, he wasn’t, you know, White, but he DID kill a LOT of White robots.

    This whole THING is COMPLETELY silly, you might as well ask what their religion is and start importing Halal robots from Saudi Arabia, a task that would be easier if they made any. This is just CNN trying to be divisive assholes, which isn’t surprising, because it’s what they DO.

    It’s what their masters TELL them to do.

    It’s kind of nice that this is all the Democrats have, is stirring race hatred. They KNOW they are in danger of losing Blacks to Trump. The rally in Cincinnati last night had a HUGELY diverse crowd, inside AND outside (Broke US Bank Arena’s record attendance set by a Metallica concert) and about 120 “protesters”. They have REASON to fear.

    Which is why they will nominate Michelle Obama from the floor at the convention, and anoint “her” by acclaim. Gonna be interesting to see how that plays out in the general…

  18. Marvin the Martian had a black face, was he racist or Earthist for always trying to destroy the Earth with his Illudium P-36 space modulator because it impeded his view of Venus? I know he’s really not a robot but he could be. And what about those silver salt and pepper container shaped evil Earth hating Daleks who always yelled EXTERMINATE?
