#LFGM – IOTW Report

#LFGM

I’m officially a believer.

When Pete Alonso, the all-star, homerun derby-winning rookie Mets first baseman coined the new, more badass and profane, version of Let’s Go Mets, I wasn’t much a believer as I was a somewhat loyal fan.

Tonight, I believe. Let’s ******* GO Mets.

The Mets went down 6-3 in the top of the ninth to the second place Nationals.

The Mets came from behind on a Todd Frazier 3-run dinger and a Michael Conforto game winning single over the head of the right fielder in the bottom of the ninth.

7-6.

The Mets are rolling, currently the hottest team in MLB. I’m pretty sure this is 14 wins in their last 15 games.

This team could definitely go all the way. (If they get some bullpen help.)

although today Casey Stengel’s words ring in my ears when I watch my boys … “Can anyone play this game?”

  2. Isn’t baseball that slow-moving game where the players struck the World Series in the early 90’s and lost a fan since childhood?

I haven’t watched a game on TV since, and only have gone to live games when the tickets are free.

  3. @BFH – have you been to the, formerly known as Shea Stadium, now known as CITI Field lately?? It is quite nice.

Perhaps we could have a ‘IOTW Gathering’ partay there?? They make a GREAT pastrami sammich at one of those great vendors.

They also have wiffle ball if ya like that as well.

  4. @Cynic – I fully understand your…cynicness… when it comes down to baseball. That damn strike effed with us all but I have moved on. It is still the better of the two or three when it comes down to b-ball or f-ball.

I prefer to listen to the games on the RADIO.

You can hear the crack of the bat.

  5. The day the Mets won the World Series in 1969 I saw it from the street at 23rd Street & Lexington Ave. NYC. There was a bunch of people watching in a window at a TV store.
What a day. The entire City went Ape. They hugged, kissed, embraced, cheered. Horns honked, Fire Engines Blared,Police sierens screamed. It was a wonderful time.+
But today? Fucking sad I’ll say no more.

  6. Joe6pak, the Mariners are their own curse, they stink this year. At least they’re not as bad as the Tigers or the Orioles. I love baseball but it’s far cheaper and more fun to go to Minor League games and besides parking is free. The Mariners seems to be where good players careers go to die or be traded.

  7. Hell of a lot better than soccer and more American (games almost never end in a tie and and nobody says “nil”).

I’m a Nationals fan but am waning due to front office shenanigans (losing Harper and next Rendon and the like). They pay for pitching but won’t for hitting. 3 Nationals pitchers have contracts that are almost obscene!

  8. Over the last 2 WS, and many more recent All-star games, the NL has shown itself to be inferior to the AL. The last WS was a joke. The LAD were trounced. It was no contest. Not even close.
