The U.S./Mexican border has just shy of 2 thousand miles of terrain. The left says that it’s pie in the sky to think that we could ever run a barrier the length of the border. They liken it to a Great Wall of China endeavor.
Never mind that we don’t need a fence on every foot of the border, but for argument’s sake, let’s say we did. Could we do it?
What if I told you that as of 2013 the government has built over 3,000 miles of barrier at a cost of 6 billion dollars? Where is this barrier? No, it’s not on the Canadian border. No, I’m not talking about any barrier built on the Mexican border either.
So where is it?
It runs along our highways.
Granted, this is not the type of barrier we would need on the border, but it does represent 3,000 miles (as of 2013!) of construction at a cost of 6 billion.
When there is a will there is a way, I guess.
It’s more important to keep car noise down than the noise of citizens at town halls concerned with our sovereignty, safety and resources.
But Fur, the border wall wouldn’t work!!!
And what if I told you these sound barriers don’t work? Yet, they continued to build them.
I always figured those Walls were put up to keep the Feral Poplulace
from Raping, Robbing, and Recidivism …
Because walls of concrete crush vehicles much better than wire fence.
And those walls do a good job keeping people from running on to the highway….
Yes, I know, comparing apples to pianos, but it sounded good in my head
Since when did the left object to pie in the sky? It’s their whole agenda.
These walls have been squeezed into so many spots I never thought possible. It’s curb and then wall. Jump the curb you’re right into the wall.
They are expanding the expressway by my house and we had to vote for or against the wall. At least in my area, residents need to vote if there is any highway expansion or any road in excess of 4 total lanes. In other words, no highways are being built anywhere without nearby residents voting for the wall. The wall by us was passed with overwhelming support, from what I recall it had something like 99.7% votes for it. Now it just needs to be built, sometime in 2021.
The sound barrier walls DO work………after a fashion.
They don’t ABSORB the noise, so much as re-direct it overhead, and it is then dispersed in the air. The noise then doesn’t impact so directly on the ground level homeowners.
(If the left can say border walls don’t work, we can say acoustic barriers don’t…when they do.)
You gringos can’t build no wall, that’s against my rights! I come here to steal some identities, drive some drunk, rape some girls and give you tuberculosis, cuz that’s my right! Ees good, no? The Democrats say ees good! ARRIBA!
*shoots gun in air, plays La Cucaracha on car horn*
“*shoots gun in air, plays La Cucaracha on car horn*” -Senor Cheeseteeth
And La Gonorrhea in de pantses.
I remember when President Trump first said “Build the wall” and everyone screamed NO! I guesstimated we had already built at least that many miles of sound barriers back then.
I’m so pissed off about them. I believe Reagan signed the law that allowed for this, with the stipulation it was only for new highways or major expansions up against existing homes. The assholes at DOT exaggerated the law so now any improvement to a highway is an “expansion”. Now they are building the walls soon after new housing developments are put up. It’s angering.
Just another example of government growing WAY PAST where it was intended to go.
If the Dems win back control, they will rush to build a wall…to keep us IN!
I thought the main purpose of the freeway sound walls is to provide a blank canvas for graffiti “artists”. In that respect, mission accomplished!
