WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump called birthright citizenship “frankly ridiculous” on Aug. 21 while talking to media.
“We’re looking at that very seriously—birthright citizenship, where you have a baby on our land. You walk over the border, have a baby, congratulations, the baby is now a U.S. citizen,” Trump said.
“We’re looking at it very, very seriously.”
Birthright citizenship is the practice of granting full citizenship to anyone born in the United States, including those born to parents who are in the country illegally, on a temporary visa, or as tourists. It is blamed for being a magnet for “birth tourism,” and for igniting chain migration through “anchor babies.”
Between 200,000 and 300,000 babies are born to illegal aliens and non-residents every year, equaling about 7 percent of all births in the United States, according to Pew Research Center estimates using Census Bureau data.
Last October, weeks after Justice Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed onto the Supreme Court, Trump said he planned to remove birthright citizenship via an executive order, saying he expects it would end up in the nation’s highest court. read more
He’s wasting his thinking time, the Courts will never allow it and he knows it. It’s a move to enthuse and solidify his base which seems to be getting shakier in its support of him lately.
All it will do is get birthright citizenship for anyone born here more enshrined and protected from any interference in our legislation and law.

Despite the insane lies of libtards there is LONG standing Fed law that denies birth citizenship to certain people. Right now it is children born to foreigners who work for their country’s foreign service in the USA. So, it is already Constitutional to exclude those who have not subjected themselves to US law. Like illegal invaders.
@Anonymous — Please don’t just write stuff off the top of your head. First off, POTUS Trump’s support is probably even more galvanized than ever and increasing among Independents and even moderate Democrats who will not support Socialism. Second, there are serious writers lately (see some of the articles at American Greatness, for example) who know how the plain meaning of real birthright citizenship has been twisted and how to untwist it. Trump is right to EO the problem and leave it up to the SCOTUS — especially now that it’s not packed with Progressive Justices. It’s very possible he has put this off hoping for a third SCOTUS pick.
Birthright citizenship is long past it’s user date. It was enacted so that the children of the freed slaves would be citizens. It’s absolutely ridiculous now – just the type of law liberals love, hence we’re stuck with it.

The Big Question revolves around, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof…….”
If you are born in the US, OF ILLEGAL ALIEN PARENTS; the PARENTS are NOT subject to the jurisdiction of the US (except to be arrested and returned to their home country), they are subject to their home country’s laws. The children (born or DACA “Dreamers”) are minors, subject to their parents, and are therefore also subject to their parent’s home country’s laws etc.
Therefore, SEND ‘EM ALL HOME.
We don’t care where you go, but you can’t stay here.
PREPARE THE TREBUCHET!
If the CHILDREN want to go through the long and arduous process of applying for LEGAL entry into the US (while still residing in their parent’s home country), that’s fine. Let them stand in line and apply, just like everyone else. No “cutsies”.

Perhaps President Trump has been waiting for another conservative appointment to the Supreme Court before he acts on this by Executive Order, knowing that a defeat at that level would make it impossible to overturn later. I have been reading about his thoughts about this for several years, and I’m sure his legal advisers have recommended a cautious approach to this absurd situation.

If the acting Swedish Ambassador’s child born in the US is not granted automatic citizenship, then the newborn of a woman who crosses the border illegally to give birth on the US side of the border should not be granted automatic citizenship.
The democrats will squeal about losing their largest source of future voters.

Trump has talked a lot, but has actually done WHAT? to benefit his supporters? The most he has done has been to verify that Israel is his priority. And Saudi Arabia is a best buddy for supplying American armament to for destroying Yemen. He wants to retake Venezuela’s oil by force or starvation. He has no control over the criminal war hawks running the WH. Ivanka and Jared are pulling his chains of Netanyahu enslavement while they are working against him politically. They are his base, not those who voted him in based on his fraudulent promises. Trump is the king without clothing and doesn’t even know it. Neither do many Americans blind to reality and influenced by paid propaganda specialists. Show Trump’s actual victories accomplished for patriotic American citizens before proclaiming him a success. No more illegals! No more anchor babies! No more thousands of parasitic non-white immigrants and job-taking visa holders! No more war aggression! No more $$billions to Israel while Americans need help to survive! Trump has NO power of his own. He was selected to do continued harm by TPTB, not good!
