Handmaid’s Tale Themed Wedding Deemed “Puke-worthy”

disrn

Two photographers who recently shot a wedding in the theme of The Handmaid’s Tale defended the photo shoot, while others slammed it as tone-deaf and “puke-worthy.”

The Canadian photography company, Van Daele & Russell, shot photographs for the wedding styled after the dystopian fiction franchise The Handmaid’s Tale, a story that takes place in a despotic theocracy in which women are designated property and used as breeding slaves. The photograph of the newlywed couple was digitally altered to include a lineup of the titular handmaids.

One online critic slammed the photo as “truly puke-worthy,” while another called it “the opposite of cute,” and a third said it was “deeply disturbing.” More

  1. I’m sorry but I don’t get it… 😒
What is the significance of the edited photo aside from it being badly photoshopped?

Seriously. A bunch of handmaidens surrounded the newlyweds who are sharing a kiss… okay..?

  2. I’m with you chuffed. It’s just art.
Art is in the eye of the beholder.
If you don’t like it, stop looking at it.

BTW – Same thing with TV. If you don’t like it, turn it off!
    It’s just that simple!

  3. It’s very Druid looking – with the red having something to do with the loss of virginity. The all right-facing witnesses signify a timeline. The problem is that the cloaks should be white to the left and red on the right. The fact that they’re not means she’s not a virgin.

I’ll be here all week to explain ancient Celtic customs.

  4. The Handmaids Tale is dystopian Feminism. A happy just married couple in the middle of all that is like sunlight to a vampire.

(The groom says he’s a fan of the show…sure thing bro.)

  5. Author Margaret Atwood is the liberal puke responsible for the puke novel.

I’d like to know when American women have collectively been used as sex slaves as depicted in the story? Never. Yes, it’s supposed to be a dystopian future, but it is so far from reality it is nothing more than a load of brain flatulence. Now they have a TV program based upon it. Its purpose, other than making money, seems to be in scaring incredulous people who are already scared. At least 1984, and maybe Brave New World, were somewhat believable and certainly attainable with modern technology lending a hand.

The idiot Atwood has gotten this dumb idea out of her silly stupid imagination.
