Snip: In other words, California seeks to buy Colorado. Will they sell?
WFB: California Democrats have been cutting six-figure checks to promote the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPV) in Colorado ahead of a referendum vote in the state next November.
The NPV would change how the Electoral College operates without amending the Constitution. It pledges a state’s Electoral College votes to the candidate receiving the most votes nationwide in a presidential election.
The Colorado political committee Yes on National Popular Vote has collected just under $750,000 since its creation in late July. Over 98 percent of that money is from California donors, most of which is courtesy of a $500,000 donation from Stephen Silberstein, a board member of the National Popular Vote nonprofit that has driven the movement for more than a decade. Craig Barratt, a technology executive and longtime Democratic donor, gave $100,000. John Koza, chair of the National Popular Vote, contributed an additional $55,000. read more
Vote for it, Colorado, and have your lives be dictated by California from here you on out.
Yes, they’ll be bought.
I remember when Californians were flooding into Colorado to escape California back in the 70’s and 80’s. There was a popular bumper sticker that said: “Don’t Californicate Colorado”……well, it looks like they did.
This ‘compact’ is Unconstitutional and undermines the way US elections were designed to work on purpose.
The US Supreme Court needs to slap this down and quick.
Just one more reason to cut California off the public tit! Yes I understand they are “donations”, but the skeptic in me smells a rat! Not only that, but to undermine the electoral process like this is Third World skulduggery that must be stopped.
Colorado is already gone, this is just putting a bow on it.
California statehood should be revoked; return it to territory status and have appointed bureaucrats administer it at the federal level. It’s apparent that the ‘voters’ are too stupid and greedy to conduct there own affairs. Too, allow no emigration into the forty-nine states OR allow it with the proviso that said emigres and their families cannot vote until the sixth generation of residence in that state.
This unconstitutional, unworkable scheme virtually guarantees election chaos and litigation of every Presidential election. It will look all nice and pretty right up until a state voting for the “losing” candidate switches its electoral votes to match the popular vote.
How will national totals be tallied, verified and audited? This can’t happen instantly. It will take days, perhaps weeks to slog through the ballots, challenges, recounts, and lawsuits precinct by precinct, state by state.
State election laws will have to be rewritten, which is always an opportunity for shenanigans, amendments, and riders to obscure or corrupt the plain meaning of the words.
Colorado Democrats pretending that the state could vote Republican in order take California Democrat’s money. Brilliant.
@gin blossom has it right. Californians have been flooding Colorado for years trying to escape to a better place. In the process, they have felt the need to turn this great state into California Light.
At first, it was just Denver and the People’s Republic of Boulder, but those got too crowded and most of the front range is now californicated.
I still live here because I have lived here all of my life, and it is impossible for me to not just enjoy the sheer beauty of the state that God has graced us with.
Maybe they will will force me out, but not without a fight.
MOB RULE
Time to secede, I warned you.
The mass immigration operation was to do just this.
Even the disgusted victims of leftism often acquire a taste for control of other people’s lives and the insatiable lust for petty meddling. They discover that they can easily inflict their political will on others and so they do. They’ll find some justification for it, or not even bother. Doesn’t matter, in the end they’ll just do it because they can.
That’s a big reason red states infected by Democrats end up going blue. If that isn’t a sure indicator of the desperate sickness of every human heart, I don’t know what it is.
Can the hooker buy the john; or just the house
he lives in? Is there a difference if the john
sells himself out?
^^^ Anon – Just rember you don’t paya hooker for sex, you pay her to leave.
Now if that only worked with democRATs…
If only there was a real Republican Party in Colorado.
My BIL lives in CO. He’s an affable guy, easy to like but he’s swallowed the liberal line to the hilt. Well-meaning and oblivious to reality: I wonder how many libs fall into that category? I wonder what it would take to turn them around because those who are like him are not bad people at their core.

Like “reasonable” “regulation” of the Second Amendment?
Stop! Stop! I’m gonna’… uh-oh.
I live on the high plains of eastern Co. During the run up to the 2016 election a Bernie Sanders yard sign showed up three houses down from me. From Denver and Boulder to the plains. They never stop.
The town cops were all let go, but now we have a code enforcement officer. It is easy to see the direction we are headed as a state. The ballot box can’t protect us.

As long as their cores are flamable, we’ll get on fine.
A generation or two from now they will realize their terrible mistake. Of course, it will be far too late to do anything to correct it.
