Wrestling Announcer Canceled by Cancel Culture After On-Air Joke

“He’s the only man I’ve ever known that can strap a bucket of fried chicken on his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia.” – Jim Cornette

BigLeaguePolitics-

While Cornette was giving color commentary on a broadcast of NWA Power during a match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch (two Caucasian performers), he made a joking comment about one of the competitor’s toughness. This is the comment that has him in such hot water.

“Effective immediately: Jim Cornette has resigned from the National Wrestling Alliance. As an announcer on the November 19th edition of NWA Power, Jim made remarks during a singles match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch that were both offensive and do not meet the high standards of decency and good faith of the National Wrestling Alliance,” the NWA said in a statement.

Just what does Big League Politics mean by “Color” Commentary? Sounds like they need to be boycotted!!!

And by the way, does the NWA really think they have high standards?

  1. “No Ethiopians were harmed in the execution of this joke.”

Let me guess – if he had said “watermelon” instead of “fried chicken” it would have been OK?

  2. …if the metaphor were “He’s the only man I’ve ever known that can strap a cross on his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia.”, would he STILL have been fired? I mean, that’s even MORE dangerous than the “chicken” thing in Muslim lands, and WAY more likely to make the “leaders” who are CAUSING the “famine” to try to kill you, TOO…

  3. “… he was a liberal and a serial Trump attacker.”

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably still is. Hundreds of guys shuffled to Stalin’s scaffolds knowing (and admitting) that they were guilty of something – they didn’t know WHAT – but they knew they were guilty of SOMETHING!

“The best thing about getting a blowjob from an ethopian chick is you know she’s gonna swallow.”

…perhaps, but what if she decides to BITE, too? They don’t have a TRADITION of cannibalism, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t possible to LEARN, and hunger can be QUITE the motivator for LEARNING…

  6. Sorry, it was funny. It was insensitive because starving people…and shouldn’t have been said on air, blah blah blah, however… I hear the same kind of jokes done by Black comedians.

Shit, I made those jokes as a kid. And it was usually followed by, “Why are people donating so much money and food and clothes and they’re STILL HUNGRY?! ”
This is 35 years later, and now we know why. Tribal warfare and centralized gubmints. But hey, the same questions are still being asked and the same jokes are being made. Right?

In conclusion. FTG if he’s a never Trumper, but it was still a funny comment.
And who is taking scripted wrestling seriously anyway?

  7. He made the mistake of calling them Ethiopiens. South Park (I think?) did an entire episode on this waaaaaaaaay back when (or was it Beavis and Butthead?) and cracked allllll kinds of Ethiopian jokes and got away with it. By calling them Ether-nope-ians.
