Mass shooters are at the top of my “some folks” list.
While I’d rather not do the killin’ myself because of all the downstream hassles, I’d have no moral qualms or psychological aversion about doing so.
We can ask that question, but we can’t allow the answer.

A friend told me this AM that he had heard some jouranalist indignantly say about the man who shot the would be killer in the TX church this week, “He might have hit an innocent person by mistake!”…

It’s possible an innocent person could have been hurt by defender. However, it’s guarandamteed that if killer had not been stopped many more people would have been killed.
Don’t like guns? Don’t carry one. Seems pretty fuckin’ simple. If fact, if you aren’t comfortable around firearms, I don’t WANT you to carry one. Leave it me and go back to sucking your thumb in mute terror.
While the hero was obviously well-trained, I was somewhat less impressed with some of the other volunteer “security” staff who showed up AFTER the shooting stopped; their muzzle control left something to be desired. Maybe stress? Maybe more training needed?
Guns work better than gun control
I hate to be critical, but… they were suspicious of the shooter when he walked in. Thats when you get in close and ENGAGE verbally then physically before he can pull a firearm. Those two gentlemen did not have to die if someone had just had the balls to confront this turd face-to-face.

One guy did. Standing 5 feet away or less. He decided to reach for his weapon. That got him killed. Should have gone hand to hand. That 21 foot rule works both ways. Had he grabbed the bad guys shot gun odds are nobody would have died.
