In a literal sense, its just not true in america. People who are unarmed do have a say in rulemaking. Its a comically simplistic view at best and it makes the utterer look like an authoritarian more likely.
That’s true within the framework of the government as it currently is. This is a truism that exists outside of that framework. In fact, it’s what allowed our current constitutional system to be developed in the first place. That’s the point. We are only free because of the dissemination and decentralization of the credible threat of violence. The government should and, in America, does bow to the collective will of the people because we, as a people, have guns as a credible deterrent to the tyrannical machinations of any one individual in power.
You’re not getting it. Yes the unarmed have their voice and their freedom to remain unarmed. But it is through arms that laws are enforced and society maintained. It’s why police are armed. Why military is armed. Why civilians are armed. Guns are the teeth of law and order.
I’m not sure that this is taught anymore. If it is taught it is not stressed. One can graduate high school have have zero understanding of how our government is supposed to work and who the founding fathers were.
This lack if education produces gadfly Bernie-bros who want to bring gulags to America. Those not willing to learn history will make the same mistakes and when they come for our guns they will meet the same bloody repulse.
Come to Texas and try what VA was trying to pull and see what happens. Easy for Beto or any of the remaining dems to suggest they are going door to door to take ARs/guns. I doubt they would have many counties interested in enforcing that and there would be bloodshed. Easy to talk a tough game and I’d like to see them show up at my gate or any of my neighbors.
It’s part of the plan.
