ICYMI- Virginia Democrats Push Legislation to Make Criticism of Government Officials a Criminal Offense

In the wake of the Virginia gun rights rally on Monday, Democrats in the Capitol are not slowing down their push for tyranny. They are moving a bill through the legislature that would effectively criminalize dissent against Governor Blackface Northam and other state government officials.

House Bill 1627 was introduced by Delegate Jeffrey M. Bourne last week. The legislation “provides that certain crimes relating to threats and harassment may be prosecuted in the City of Richmond if the victim is the Governor, Governor-elect, Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant Governor-elect, Attorney General, or Attorney General-elect, a member or employee of the General Assembly, a justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, or a judge of the Court of Appeals of Virginia.”

Language in the bill explicitly criminalizes free speech, in what would constitute a blatant attack on the 1st Amendment of the Constitution.

  1. They like to keep the temperature high and create confusion in all directions. Keeping people angry and at each others throats diverts attention from their underhanded power grabs and other criminal activities.

  2. But. But! The Citizens™ pouted over the Second Amendment being subject to change, without notice. And paid “their” taxes.

Why would the Fist Amendment be subject to change, without notice? It’s not fair!

Damn it! I pouted. Who’s the Duly Authorized™ representative to take my wallet?

  3. Can’t really eliminate the 2nd without gutting the 1st, now can we?

Tyranny cannot function in an individually self-expressive milieu.
Tyranny (to be successful) must control, not only the actions, but, the very thoughts of the oppressed peasants. Those must humbly submit to their oppressors, thanking them for each and every abuse, grateful that the exalted ones deign to oppress them. To be shat and spat upon by the “High and Mighty” must be considered an Honor.

They damn themselves with their own words.
Treason used to carry a penalty – but now – meh.

  4. Tim, once the 2nd falls, there’s no protection for the 1st.

Kind of makes Trump’s re-election more important. I don’t think Ginsburg’s going to make it another 4 years since she’s 99% in the grave already.

  5. Some people said something so they should go to jail. They said mean things I tell you and hurt our feelings. You can’t cry wolf in a crowded theater, remember Nancy said so.

  6. “Tar and feathers, anyone”?

    How bout: “Rope and Scaffold?”

Subverting the Constitution (both the US and VA) is TREASON – not “bad” politics.
