My friend’s dad, who was an airline pilot and flew Sabres in Korea, had a saying: “There’s nothing more dangerous than a doctor in a Bonanza.”
I’m saddened, don’t get me wrong, but I feel bad because I kind of don’t care any more that it’s Kobe Bryant than I would care for any family that lost their loved ones in a tragic accident.
Flying too low over hilly terrain in zero visibility. What could go wrong.

That’s number one of the three most dangerous things in the world as reported in the sixties. Number three was a stewardess with a chipped tooth.
This accident is similar to Stevie Ray Vaughan’s accident at the Alpine Valley Music Theater in Wisconsin.

If he was flying it himself and was not instrument rated, he had a fool for a pilot.
Having worked in aerospace and Helicopter R&D particularly there is an old saying in the industry that the definition of a helicopter is: Thousands of parts rotating at high speed around an oil leak!
But I’m sure the NTSB will find it to be pilot error. Having been in similar conditions (on the water) you need to believe your instruments! He should have been flying IFR or not at all, it is so easy to suffer spacial disorientation…just ask JFK jr!

It’s interesting to me that this guy is wearing a TWA employee hat. I’m guessing he’s in the industry.
It reminds me of some of the interviews Jack Cashill did for his great book and documentary on the TWA 800 ‘disaster/shootdown’.
Many commercial and ex-military aviators, along with people in the industry solidly refuted the phony construct the FBI created to cover up what happened.
To this date not one member of the mechanics union at TWA has agreed to sign off on the phony reasoning for that crash. They flatly state the things the government claimed happened were mechanically impossible.
I hope at some point that investigation gets revisited. I’m betting that’s pretty near the beginning of the Clinton’s figuring out they can hide governmental screwups and the media will do their bidding.

He provides such accurate, impartial information in a clear cincise manner – it’s very refreshing.
