Yet, he says he’ll work hard to have it implemented if he doesn’t get the nomination.

I think he was pretty clear there. He doesn’t think socialism can win. That doesn’t mean anything about his support of socialism or nonsupport, simply that he considers it to be a losing proposition in November.
In other words, he doesn’t care about socialism either way, just about getting a D into the big chair.
