‘It’s a New Day in Mississippi’ as 8 Elected State Officials Announce Party Switch, Join GOP

Redstate: WLBT3 reports that the Mississippi Republican Party welcomed eight new members into their fold last week, six of whom had been Democrats and two, Independents. Each of these officials were elected in the most recent election cycle.

Mississippi Republican Party Chairman Lucien Smith suspects they won’t be the last. He told WLBT, “We have had a relentless focus on switching conservative Democrats over to the Republican party. They recognize increasingly that there is only one party that represents the conservative values of our state and that is the Republican party.” read more

  1. They’re all lower echelon chair moisteners such as County Clerk, Traffic Court Judge and Dogcatcher.

    None are national such as Congressman, Senator or Dept of Interior Flamingocatcher

  2. Back in the early to mid 60s I lived in Starkville and the Demonrats were more conservative than Republicans (to the best of my recollection – I was in my early teens and just beginning to drink).

    Demonrats were NOT rabid communists back then – as education foundered unionized socialism came to the classroom and infested every aspect of education – and the decline has proceeded apace. Funny how, as the slope reaches the vertical, the speed of descent increases – must be a math thing.
