U. Wisconsin-Madison accused of racism for honoring white basketball legend

College Fix:

In April 2015, University of Wisconsin star forward Frank Kaminsky was named Associated Press College Basketball Player of the Year. Kaminsky, who had just led the Badgers to two straight Final Four appearances, became the first Wisconsin player to ever receive the award.

In February of 2018, Kaminsky was given the ultimate honor by the school – his number 44 jersey was retired and placed in the rafters, never to be worn by another Badger. In receiving the award, Kaminsky became only the second Wisconsin player to be so honored.

But this week, a local columnist took exception to Kaminsky’s award. Henry Sanders, publisher and CEO of Madison365.com, a publication that aims to “foster dialog between members of diverse communities,” argued in an “open letter” that the school’s honoring of Kaminsky suffers from a significant drawback: Kaminsky is the wrong color.

  1. wonder if Comrade Henry is any relation to Comrade Bernie? … ’cause he sure is acting like it

  2. …from the article…

“…and the university “dragging its feet” in removing the names of Ku Klux Klan members from a display in the student union (which the school did.) ”

…while you’re at it, Mr. Black Racist, why don’t you go over to West Virginia and Washington DC and start getting the racist Democrat (redundant, I know) Exaulted Cyclops and Klan Kleagle Robert Byrd’s name taken of of every structure larger than an outhouse?

THAT would be a CAREER for you all by ITSELF….

  3. …let’s apply the “lights out” test to another part of the article…

“As a White person, whenever I go into a building, a business, or a school, I look to see whether or not I’m reflected,” Sanders writes.

“I look at the faces of the people working there. I look at the pictures of the staff on the walls. I look at the people being served. I look to see who’s being celebrated. It’s the little things that tell me where I stand.”

    …I changed one word.

    To.”White”.

    Sound racist?

…well, it doesn’t sound any LESS racist when YOU say it, Bub…

  4. It takes very little effort to outrage the idiots. Their “community” grows increasingly more moronic with every passing day. The ones who aren’t outright evil, are stunningly ignoramuses. The “Stupid is strong with this community.

  5. Did I miss something? The last time I looked at the racial composition of any typical college basketball team, it is about 85%-90% black.

Where’s the “diverse community” here?? Oh wait, it’s the left’s racial double standard thingy.

  6. Any person of color playing basketball, baseball, football, hockey, soccer the list goes on is guilty of the high crime of cultural appropriation!!
    Bailiff! Whack his pee pee!

  7. So when is this fool going to write a column bitching about “culture appropriation” in basketball. Too many blacks playing a game invented by a cracker, and how they ought to be banned from stepping foot on the basketball court. [ this kind of crappola is very tiresome ].

  8. I’m not real surprised. Madison is 20 square miles of Berkeley surrounded by reality. It’s an isolated place where our state born leftists go to college and some even make the university experience a life choice. We have this joke in Wisconsin that it’s impossible to find a job in Madison with a masters degree, because even the taxi driver jobs are filled with PHD’s. Anyway, you get it. If it’s an extreme leftist talking point you can bet Madison has already manage to copy it. It’s not that they are wise, it’s because they “believe” that they are. Anyway, I digress…when you are a liberal you must be a “Rebel Without a Cause.”

  9. The sport was invented in the USA by a Canadian cause y’all didn’t have a hockey puck!

Because “it was less injury prone” than US Football. (Wiki)

    That’s the other reason I don’t watch.

It interferes with the fighting that already has way too much Hockey in it!

  10. Basketball Jones, I got a Basketball Jones
Got a Basketball Jones, oh baby, oo-oo-ooo

Yes, I am the victim of a Basketball Jones
Ever since I was a little baby, I always be dribblin’
In fac’, I was de baddest dribbler in the whole neighborhood
Then one day, my mama bought me a basketball
    And I loved that basketball
I took that basketball with me everywhere I went
That basketball was like a basketball to me

I even put that basketball underneath my pillow
Maybe that’s why I can’t sleep at night
I need help, ladies and gentlemens
I need someone to stand beside me
I need, I need someone to set a pick for me at the free-throw line of life
    Someone I can pass to
Someone to hit the open man on the give-and-go
And not end up in the popcorn machine
    So cheerleaders, help me out

    {cheerleaders sing repeatedly…}
(Basketball Jones, I got a Basketball Jones)
(I got a Basketball Jones, oh baby, oo-oo-ooo)

    {while Tyrone Shoelaces sings/speaks…}
    Oh, that sounds so sweet
    Sing it out
C’mon Coach Booty, Red Blazer, sing along with me
    That be bad, honky
    Yeah
I want everybody in the whole stadium to stand up and sing with us
Oh yeah, sing it out like you’re proud
All right, everybody watchin’ coast-to-coast, sing along with us
Bill Russell, sing along with us
Chick Hearn, sing along with us
    Chris Schenkel, don’t sing nothin’

  11. I always thought it was Bassetball Jones. And most of the white guys playing college ball now are from Europe, at least it seems that way to me. But there’s still a few token home grown white guys mostly playing for smaller colleges. I’m about 6 foot 3 inches tall and I sucked at basketball.

  12. FTA: Of the approximately 43,000 students on campus, fewer than 980 of them are Black—and that number is declining. It’s not a lot better for Latino, Asian American and Native American students, either. It’s just unacceptable. You have programs in place to recruit students of color—invest more in them.

So he’s demanding “special recognition” for 2.27% of the overall university population.
I just knew affirmative action was the starting point. Who believes reparations would satisfy these people?
