Trump Suspends 1938 Road Law, Gives Truckers Green Light To Move Emergency Supplies

Western Journal-

All along America’s highways, trucks hauling vital relief supplies are cutting through red tape, thanks to President Donald Trump.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on Friday announced that a 1938 law regulating the hours of service for truck drivers was being waived on a national basis to battle the coronavirus. The agency said this was first time the rule had ever been waived throughout the country.

“I will never hesitate to take any necessary steps to protect the lives, health, and safety of the American people. I will always put the well-being of America first,” Trump said, according to a White House media pool report.

  1. Dear Mr. Trump:

    (1) Tell Dr. Fauci to shut the fuck up and let the institutions in the States do their job.

    (2) Tell the FED that if they lower interest rates again, you are going to reverse their ruling under emergency Presidential order and subject them to Federal arrest. You are quite simply inviting a run on the Banks if you don’t.

  2. @Ann Nonymous Prime:

Can you imagine anyone else being able to handle all this? I can’t.

    Nor can I.

And as for suspending the trucking regulations, it certainly is refreshing to see President Trump getting govt out of the way when that goes against the very nature of 99.99% of pols and bureaucrats…when it is so obvious to 99.99% of us NON-pols and NON-bureaucrats that it is a good thing to do.

  3. Fine until a tired trucker kills a bunch of people. What is so urgent to move by truck that this would be necessary? Stuff already gets from anywhere to anywhere in a day or two. Sorry, but even though I’m a fan of the President, this is probably not well advised, or needed.

  4. We’ll meet again,
Don’t know where, don’t know when,
But I know we’ll meet again
    Some sunny day.
    Keep smiling through,
    Just like you always do,
‘Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away.

So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know,
Tell them I won’t be long.
    They’ll be happy to know
That as you saw me go,
    I was singing this song.

    We’ll meet again,
Don’t know where, don’t know when,
But I know we’ll meet again,
    Some sunny day!

  5. I think an emergency hire of perhaps retired drivers or even driver assistants to monitor overextended or fatigued drivers might be a better solution if this goes long term. But it has been reported with the recent economy the trucking industry has been suffering a shortage of drivers. Perhaps the slack could be assisted with smaller Uhaul type vehicles doing some of the runs where applicable. Non perishables don’t need refrigeration. There’s alot of other companies out there that have larger boxed vehicles that could be asked to step up to the plate.

  6. Interesting, but think how much money is going into the coffers and pockets of supermarkets, truckers etc.: the selling-out of stock in store shelves put A LOT of money into the banks of stores; and these drivers are making serious bank driving overtime.

Same with shoppers, who overbought tons of perishable items, stayed home from movies, etc. – and now have money burning a hole in their pockets.

This will result in a boom to the economy as we get to the election.

Btw: why is it we have to CONTINUALLY convince certain voters not to vote themselves into tyranny? WTF!

  7. I’ve been from Tucson to Tucumcari, Tehachapi to Tonapah
Driven every kind of rig that’s ever been made
Driven the back roads, so I wouldn’t get weighed
And if you give me … weed, whites, and wine
And you show me a sign, I’ll be willin’
    To be movin’

  8. I would have been a fan of this several years ago, today not so much. We have several towns that the main highway full of truckers passes through. I have seen so many fatalities when the truckers run the red lights that I’m not such a fan of less sleep for them. The older truckers seem to be more careful, like truckers I’ve known all my life. These new guys I think they pulled out of ignorantville, they’re horrible, can’t get through gears, always switching lanes, pulling out of the truck stops in front of vehicles, can’t back up a trailer. Many of them I’m not even sure are legal, see lots of hispanics and towel heads.
I’m a big fan of good truckers, not so much of the idiot truckers.

  9. @ORWW ~ same reason I can’t stand to see a Fex-Ex truck coming up the driveway … Obysmal made Fed-Ex hire Somali’s that he was importing, so Fed-ex could keep gubmint contracts … worse truckdrivers EVER! they barely have any parking or road skills … forget about backing up

    it’s not a job, it’s an adventure

btw, not to worry too much … the long-haulers have too much heavy insurance payments to have their drivers go too long

  10. Read the link folks. If they are hauling goods 10 hours down time. Moving people 8 hours down time.
They also have stops at weight stations where they have their log books checked, will there be cheaters yes just like its is now.
Its a good move by President Trump. Again.

  11. Sometimes it seems like an adventure on the highway with many of them. It’s been getting worse over the past 15 years or so. In town I take side streets to avoid being rear ended by them at red lights.
Just not the same truckers of the past.
