Yes, New York liquor stores are deemed essential businesses

CNYCENTRAL-

Liquor stores qualify as essential businesses in New York and will be exempt from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s executive order for all non-essential workers to stay home, according to the New York State Liquor Association (SLA).

The exemption applies to all SLA-licensed entities.

On Friday morning, Gov. Cuomo ordered 100 percent of non-essential workers to stay home to try to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. There will be a fine and mandatory closure for any business not in compliance.

The governor also announced that all non-essential gatherings were canceled and that New Yorkers should remain indoors to the greatest extent possible to protect their physical and mental health.
