Hostage Negotiator Chris Voss Teaches a Man How To Ge a Great Car Deal

I’ve spent a lot of time watching Voss. The man is a savant when it comes to understanding human nature.

If you ever get a chance to watch a Voss seminar, take the time to watch. He’s fascinating.

One of the oddest things about these seminars, which deal with very serious deadly situations, is that he largely imparts his knowledge upon the real estate business, which he claims has remarkably similar stressors associated with kidnappings and hostage negotiation.

  1. I went in to buy a new car once.
It was at one of those giant, multi million dollar car dealership palaces.
Sat down with the salesman and started negotiating.
Dude gets on the phone with his supervisor in the upstairs office, who told him exactly what the deal would be.
I told him I wanted to see the guy I was making the deal with, and he told me “That’s not how this works…..hey….where you going…..wait….how about a free hat……”

I’d rather buy a used car from a junkyard than to go to one of those dealerships.

  2. If you think about it the only reason car salesmen exist is to screw you out of as much as possible. Cars should have a flat price with extra features calculated appropriately.
Another thing, dealerships really make most of their money selling used vehicles not new ones so beware.

  3. Actually dealerships make most of their money financing. Now a days it’s pretty easy to get a bottom line cost of a new vehicle.

If you want to buy a used car, and that’s all I’ve ever bought but once, buy from an owner.
