Wow! A fitting tribute. Beautiful and accurate.
Fur, just how do you do it?! Your paintings are better than the photographs!!
Jasper, I bet you have your hoomans wrapped around your cute little paws! Who could resist that face?
Claudia, you havn’t seen my photographs…..
Jasper, the daffodil pointer.
Hey wait a minute. Did that daffodil just move? Haha.
Beautiful job Fur, as always.
Wonderful!!!!
I suspect Jasper associates daffodils with bacon. He looks like he’s happily anticipating something.
Glad you moved the daffodil and got the other leaves out of Jasper’s ear. Good composition is as important as good portraiture. Nice work! Of course, subject matter is adorable.

Looks like Mayor L. Light foot from Chicago. Bitch ?
Chris Brown, I’d love to see them! Send me some of your critter photographs that I can include in my Sunday Critter posts: crittersiotwr@earthlink.net
…BFH has done two of my fur children and one of my feathered ones, and I’ve yet to see a work of his that isn’t a triumph in both photo realism and yet somehow also caputures the spirit in the eyes and the lay of the fur (or feathers!) that almost breathes life into his portraits…
Another triumph, Sir. Well Done.
Is Fur a ‘Realist?’
Jimmy APRIL 25, 2020 AT 2:14 PM
“Is Fur a ‘Realist?’”
…when you commission him, he will ask if you want it to be realistic, abstract, or somewhere in between. He’s REAL easy to deal with, but I can’t pigeonhole him into one genre or style, because he’s more talented than that…
…also, he can edit things to order, as well. On my conure picture, at my request, he replaced my finger with a branch, but kept ALL the other details. This CAn be an issue sometimes but he is sensitive to it, like my FIRST one was my precious Mini who was playing in Mama’s jeans after she took them off, and was looking out through them. Fur asked me if I WANTED the jeans or not, and I said, “YES”, and he learned to paint jeans that day just for me…
…not to steal Jasper’s thunder, but I LOVE this painting of my girl, and want everyone to see what a talent this guy is with the pants and all, so here’s a link to it on this site…
https://iotwreport.com/pet-portrait-gallery/minipaint-2/
God bless him that he captured her eyes so well. Mini is a rescue, somewhere between 15 and 17 at the vet’s best guess, and she’s gone blind, but she’s still trucking and still bossing everyone around, she’s just a little “Bump-n-Go” now, but I have Fur and God to thank that I have an image of her with that cupidity shining out from them…
(also, full disclosure; he WILL remove background clutter if your perfect pet picture catches you before you’ve properly picked up in the surrounding area, just sayin’…)
Your feathered friend will be posted soon!
^^^THIS!
…wait until you see how the colors of his feathers pop and the misty mountains in the background, which wasn’t photoshopped at ALL, he was young and couldn’t fly and…
WAIT, no spoilers, I’ll just have to be patient, but rest assured, the painting Good Sir Fur did captured him very, VERY well, you’re almost afraid he WILL fly off into the distance…
@Jimmy – I would say YES:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre-Raphaelite_Brotherhood
The sculptors, stained glass, architecture, photography, etc. were also the best, in that period of time, especially here in the States, 1875-1915. This is the same period of time the Hudson River Landscape painters were thriving. It’s all about capturing the quality of provided light.
The Pre-Raphaelites were, again, The.BEST. What came after, for the most part, sucked, in all forms of art.
And that is just one reason I dig @BFH’s work, in addition to what @ Little Morphin’ Annie said about moving the daffodil, that is artistic license. Now we have Jasper looking at the flower. And btw, what BIG eyes you have!
Also, the back round pastoral pond scene, is an excellent back drop(see the wiki reference examples) for the posing pooch. I can see myself walking on that path up that hill to see what is on the other side?
@Chris Brown – would love to see you show up for CrittersSunday!
‘Jasper and Jolene’ sounds like a vaudeville act or something?!
(@C, I STILL owe you a recent round of pics…)
Ghost
Being able to paint like that is a gift from God. I’ve been at the stick-man level for 60 years now. Last one looks just like first one. Have to keep my day job.
Jasper has the look of a dog that knows how to have a good time.
What awesome talent you have BFH.
Lovely portrait! @BFH, you have somehow done the impossible. You’ve made schiffy eyes look cute!
Great job big fur
Oh my goodness!!! What a face! Love Jasper!
And Jolene is beautiful.
Great job as always, Big Fuzzy!
Nice work on Jasper’s portrait BFH!
I was just wondering: Can this little guy multi task? Looking for a lap warmer, security detail, rib steak quality assurance dog. Willing to clean up baked potato remnants a plus.
BFH, thanks for posting Jasper, and Jolene again. They are displayed on our bedroom wall watching over us as we sleep. Jasper was 12 when he crossed the “rainbow” bridge. Jolene is 5 1/2 and enjoying life.
Thanks again for the gorgeous portraits
@K Casey, I just said to Ghost, whose dog’s are Jasper and Jolene? They are beautiful. I’m sure Jasper was a hoot with those Marty Feldman eyes and Jolene knows how to pose to catch attention. The portraits are wonderful and so happy you have them close to you everyday. Very Special. Gob Bless us all!!
