As my colleague Brandon Morse covered a few days ago, Elon Musk is not a believer in forced coronavirus quarantines. He called out bureaucrats/elected officials who think they can shut down the supply chain and the economy will survive.
So, officials in Alameda County, California, where Tesla’s factory is based, had fair warning that an extension of their “Stay Safe at Home” (LOL) order would not be well-received by Musk.
On Friday, the “unelected and ignorant ‘Interim Health Officer’ of Alameda” County extended that county’s shutdown through June 1st. The officer, Dr. Julie Pan, said in response to a question about Tesla during that press conference that the local order trumps the state order, and that facilities should “wait until we have another week or so under our belt to see what has happened after we did that first round of lifting restrictions.”
While Pan stressed that her office had been working with Tesla, apparently Musk was either not aware of that or not on board. Saturday morning, Musk announced on Twitter that Tesla will be filing a lawsuit against Alameda County “immediately.”more here

Her twitter page is full of academia. Including that idiot Robert Reich. They’re all bitching about the financial breaks California has given Tesla. I doubt if it was much. Manufacturers are the largest “Economic Multipliers”. Tesla requires a huge vendor base. Metal suppliers, machine shops, sheet metal shops, foundries, heat treaters, platers, shot peeners, etc. That doesn’t even touch the electronic side (which I know nada about). All those vendors have a payroll and they all pay taxes. So if Tesla left, it’s not just Tesla leaving. Very Stupid People.

We are a machine shop that does military work so we are exempt. As most machine shops are. It’s a tight knit community and nobodies getting sick.
