An upcoming study by Harvard economists found that many more black Americans die as a result of police drawdowns following high-profile, police brutality protests.
Police become skittish following viral, racially-charged police misconduct investigations, leading to reluctance to protect black neighborhoods, according to the to-be-released academic paper by Harvard economist Roland Fryer and co-author Tanaya Devi, reported on by The Wall Street Journal’s Jason Riley. The study found that homicides and felonies spike immediately after the reported events in question, crime that hits black communities the hardest.
“When police were investigated following incidents of deadly force that had gone viral, police activity declined and violent crime spiked. It happened in Ferguson, Mo., after Michael Brown was shot by an officer. It happened in Chicago after a cop gunned down Laquan McDonald. And it occurred in Baltimore after Freddie Gray died in police custody,” Riley wrote.
“In Chicago, there was a 90% drop in police-civilian contacts immediately after the announcement of an investigation, and Baltimore literally went to zero after a probe was announced there, he said. “In cities where these contacts fell the most, homicides increased the most. Sadly, the decision to launch department-wide state and federal inquiries into the deaths of Brown, McDonald and Gray resulted in numerous additional deaths. … What happens, he said, is that police effectively pull back. They don’t stop doing their jobs, but they become less proactive and curb their interactions with civilians.” read more
Looks like an either/or trade-off. Either a smaller number of law enforcer killings, or a larger number of law of unintended consequences killings.

When I was a kid the leading cause of death for “black” males aged between 16 and 40 (inclusive) was homicide.
The police were not a substantial risk factor – in fact – the police (probably) kept the number smaller by removing potential murderers from the streets.
I know sense and reason have little to do with rioting savages, but they may come to rue the day that they get what they want. An armed militia made up of Antifa-type thugs (paid bully-boys of the socialist movement) will do little for the Liberties and Freedoms of the ghetto-bound, Demonrat plantation-slaves.
They have only to look towards the “homeland” of Africa (Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Nigeria, &c.) to get a glimpse of their future.

Lawless areas in the old west of the late 19th century inspired, several decades later, a favorite movie genre – the American Shootem Up Western.
I’m trying to image what kind of movies will be inspired by what happens next in Minneapolis, LA, NY plus all the other cities that are today – claiming they are going to de-fund their police departments. Either closing them down entirely or greatly reduced in size.
My bet is a lot of Anti-2nd Amendment people, will soon become either dead or passionate 2nd Amendment supporters.
