Top Mueller prosecutor urges DOJ officials to resist Barr investigations

WaEx: One of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s top prosecutors urged Justice Department officials to consider refusing to cooperate with two investigations overseen by Attorney General William Barr.

Andrew Weissmann, a former Justice Department official who was known as Mueller’s “pit bull” during the Russia investigation, struck a sense of urgency in a New York Times op-ed on Wednesday, noting that there are 90 days until an election contest that will pit President Trump against former Vice President Joe Biden.

He wrote, along with former Defense Department special counsel Ryan Goodman, that U.S. Attorney John Durham’s criminal inquiry into the Russia investigation and U.S. Attorney John Bash’s investigation into “unmasking” requests by Obama administration officials targeting Trump associates show Barr is poised to “trample” written policy that no action be influenced by politics and an unwritten norm urging officials to defer publicly charging or taking any other overt investigative steps or disclosures that could affect a coming election. more here

  1. ” … that term is devoid of any meaning.”

yes, it has for quite a while …

I’d say since about 2008, possibly earlier … about when the Dept. of Homeland Security kicked in, or when the FISA court usurped the Constitution under Carter

  2. Surely his book’s release is not intended to influence the election.

If Barr’s investigations are backing up into the Fall of 2020, it is because of the delaying tactics of Weissmann and his co-conspirator’s, no doubt with the intent of postponing indictments until after the election.

  3. Andrew Weismann: Born in NYC, Jewish, overly aggressive attorney type.

Sometimes, (rarely we hope) racial characterizations are right on target. If he perchance has as Brooklyn accent, that would be most appropriate.

Only his first name is out of place. It should have been Jacob, Chaim, Harold, Abe, Ephraim, Noam, etc.

  4. I just listened again to David Horowitz on the Metaxas show about his most recent book, “Blitz: How Trump Wins and Squashes the Left” (I know I got “Blitz” right, anyway).

Horowitz is right, this is a coup and an undeclared civil war with the Left of this country. Nothing else to call it. It was the same thing they did to Lincoln, and we all know how that ended.

If gov’t employees “resist” the president, it’s called treason. Straight up. It’s just like throwing sand in the gear works to bring a halt to production. It’s treason.

The Left aren’t just “horrible people”, they are domestic enemies whose aim is to overthrow the gov’t and our legal constitution. They’ve been at the 1 and 2A’s for decades. They work against our system of gov’t, economics and with our enemies against us.

  5. Weissmann is a perfect example of why lawyers are considered disgusting sleazy parasites. He was a key player in Senator Stevens persecution (Stevens was convicted 8 days before his election but before sentencing the indictment was pulled by the DOJ because of “gross prosecutorial misconduct” committed by Weissmann). He was also neck deep in the coup against Trump. So for him to lecture about policy and rules is laughable, especially when he could not be more incorrect.

There are no rules regarding bringing charges 60 days before an election. There are rules about crimes involving the election process, and unwritten policy of charging a candidate (no 60 day time frame though). Great article explaining in more detail at RedState.

  6. “Conspiracy to Commit Treason” is (probably) of greater consequence than “Conspiracy to Obstruct Justice” – hence this latest obstruction of “justice.”

    Lie

    Suborn Perjury

    Assassination is next.
