Judge hands California church major legal victory after pastor defiantly restarts indoor gatherings

Blaze: Los Angeles County-based Grace Community Church ignited controversy last month for announcing they would begin holding indoor gatherings in defiance of Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom’s coronavirus-related restrictions.

On Friday, a judge handed the prominent church a major legal victory.

What happened?

Superior Court Judge Gregory Alarcon ruled that Grace Community Church can continue to hold indoor services as long as worshippers wear face coverings and practice social distancing.

According to the Associated Press, Los Angeles County had sought a court order to bar the church community from continuing to meet indoors. County officials claimed the gatherings posed an immediate public health threat. more here

  1. Well, either YT, Twitchy, DS or the devil took away away the Catholics in our area the ability to participate in the entire Masses that should be aired live today. We tried for half an hour to find a Mass at one of three local churches.. Looking now and all re-runs are cut short.

  2. I agree with the church. Congrats to the initial ruling. If you have specific rules in place to dictate masks and social distancing (which I disagree with since they have no basis in the regular creation of laws, but rather are dictates from wannabe dictators), then you have to allow people to follow those rules. You are not allowed to say “you can do this if you are shopping, but you cannot do the same when you are worshipping”. Something about the Constitution. Let me think. Oh yeah, the First Ammendment. I am pretty sure there was a good reason to make it the first in the Bill Of Rights.

  3. PJ, and any others interested: You are invited to watch the livestream or archives of the Mass of Saint Pius V, otherwise known as the Extraordinary Form. It is every Sunday at 0930 Pacific. This is a High Mass, aka Sung. We are the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP), in Post Falls, Idaho.

Note the lack of face diapers and socialist distancing.
