Joe Biden Accused of Plagiarizing Canadian Politician in DNC Speech

PJM-

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, and when it comes to Joe Biden, it appears that really is true.

Joe Biden has been dogged by plagiarism accusations for years, and his Thursday night speech formally accepting the Democratic nomination for president will not go down in history as a speech he wasn’t accused of plagiarizing.

According to Alexander Panetta, the Washington correspondent for CBC News, “a number of Canadians” found part of Biden’s speech to be very “similar” to Canadian politician Jack Layton’s farewell letter before his death.

Here is what Jack Layton wrote:

My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.

Here are the similar parting words from Joe Biden’s speech:

Let us begin, you and I together, one nation under god, united in our love for America, united in our love for each other, for love is more powerful than hate. Hope is more powerful than fear, and light is more powerful than dark. This is our moment. This is our mission.

There are undeniable similarities here, though nothing that can be said to be lifted verbatim. I’d actually be inclined to dismiss Panetta’s accusation, if not for one detail. Joe Biden delivered his speech on August 20, 2020. Layton’s letter was written exactly nine years earlier, on August 20, 2011. more

  1. Neil Kinnock swears he didn’t say that, and I believe him; but I also believed Tara Reade before I decided she was probably not making it up. Maybe they are both lying Pony Soldiers. Is cheating with the wife of one of your supporters plagiarism? Is it plagiarism to falsely claim for years that your first wife and daughter were killed by a drunk driver? Dementia Joe. He’s the man who put the gibb in gibberish, and the plag in plagiarism.

  2. The biggest tell that Biden (and/or his campaign) lifted this soaring passage is they don’t mean it and those words don’t live their hearts. They are quite simply incapable of conjuring up such words, any more than did oblowme.

  3. Someone could hand Joe the instruction manual for a coffee maker and tell him it’s his speech and he would deliver it as if it were.
He is as big of a perfidious charlatan as the Kenyan.

  4. I made a comment on Jack Layton 2 days ago on this topic & forum.

He was a fraud, a poverty pimp, who was leader of the federal opposition.

He was never Prime Minister, Premier of Ontario, or Mayor of Toronto, but the left forced a state funeral & Statues to be erected. He achieved nothing except living at the public trough his whole career.

Go back a few days on this blog, same topic, and read what he was really like. POS

  5. Well, he may or may not have plagiarized Jack Layton, but the day he exclaims that “…this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and the planet began to heal…”, is the day I know that his dementia has consumed him.
