Backlash: Food Lion chain said employees can’t wear American flag masks because they’re ‘offensive’

Blaze: North Carolina-based grocery chain Food Lion will now permit its employees to wear American flag-themed face masks while working at its stores.

The company went viral earlier this week after one of its employees revealed he quit after being told to avoid wearing his American flag-themed mask.

According to a recent report from WCTI-TV, the move appears to be in response to the employee — as well as his supporters — demanding such masks after the company initially prohibited them.

Saturday saw the company’s Twitter page share a status on the development, writing, “We listened to our associates and customers about our uniform policy. We require that associates wear masks without writing, insignia, or symbols. We will allow associates to wear masks with the American flag that meet this standard.”

The company also promised that it “deeply respects the American flag.” more

  1. …good for him, but you know if we just quit wearing these demonstrably stupid and useless badges of slavery in the FIRST place, then the issue goes away by ITSELF, just sayin’…

  2. ^ ^ ^
SNS, notice how quickly these masks were main streamed to look like fashion accessories? I highly doubt that this would have ever happened in our Food Lion with Ft. Jackson, Shaw AFB and McEntire ANG in close proximity. I feel for the decent folks in NC being saddled with their current Governor.

  3. That Food Lion EVEN thought for a nanosecond that the American flag would be perceived as controversial is absolutely shameful! Someone’s ideological filter is out of whack and needs to be recalibrated.

If these companies think they are going to move the needle with their pathetic attempts at flag suppression or making public statements about their support for BLM, they haven’t been paying attention to what is going on in Trumplican World.

  4. It was a dumb policy to begin with but to be fair maybe the owners/directors of the chain figured after looking over the smoking wrecks of businesses and cities where BLM had peaceful demonstrations that the American Flag facemask would be inviting a demonstration with the accompanying fireball to one of their stores seeing as most (not all) the cities and state governments weren’t doing a damn thing to stop them.

Anyway they got to the right decision after being stoned online and showed the country what even a modest joe can do to fight these BLM/Antifa?Soros type bastards.

  5. I grew up in Salisbury, NC, where Food TOWN (name changed in the ’80’s) was founded.

If Ralph & Brown Ketner (founders) were still alive, they’d kick Delhaize management, clean OFF this planet. 😡 They were both WWII vets.

  6. imagine in this day and age having to live in a country who’s flag you don’t respect.

too bad you cannot migrate to another country whose flag you respect.

national slavery is what it is…

  7. So one seemingly insignificant and unimportant man with principles he is willing to stand on without compromising can actually make a major difference.

Something to consider when it seems you’re in a hopeless situation and thinking about giving up and compromising.

  8. This may piss a lot of people off.
I personally would not wear an American flag as a face mask. Coughing and sneezing into it. The flag now becomes a spittle sponge and a snot blocker? To me, it seems disrespectful.

  9. Food Lion owns Hannaford up here in the Northeast.
I have a friend who works for them and wears the same gator.
He went to his manager as soon as this story hit. His manager said that it was not company policy. It was that store manager. He also told my friend if anyone complains, too bad.
    🙂
