Trump Pushing to Give States the Right to Ramp Up Use of Biofuels

It’s the “E” word. Ethanol.

  1. Buying votes, I hate to see that. We don’t need more ethanol in our fuel, in fact we should get rid of it. I’ll drive past 30 gas stations just to get to one that has an ethanol free pump.

  2. Ugh!
Ethanol disolves hoses and gaskets – turns them into leaky goo. It’s a death sentence to any car over 25 years old. I replaced all of them on my 69 mustang.
Also yard appliances. I don’t know how many times I have had to replace the hoses and plunger bulbs on my chain saws and string trimmers.

  3. Ethanol is shit fuel (in more ways than one), and you shouldn’t use food for gas because you need food.

Save the corn for making whiskey, and put actual gasoline in cars, and EVERYONE will be happier…

  4. Ethanol is crap. Not good for your car engine, plus a terrible waste of corn. And we’re going to need a ton of popcorn to watch the Left go nuts after the next election.

    😉

  5. One area I disagree with our President on.
    Have to win Iowa.
I gave up on 2 cycle trimmer equipment. He only way I could get any use was with $6 a quart premixed no ethanol. Gave up and got a Kobalt 80 watt rechargeable unit as there was a special where I got two batteries.
I’ve found a close by station where I can get real gasoline for mower.
Please, corn 🌽 for food and drinking alcohol.

  6. Now watch as Mitch finds the votes to confirm Trump’s ambassadors to Germany and Afghanistan. Sure it sucks, but if it helps keep the Senate in GOP hands and take the House away from Pelosi, I’ll hold my nose. But it does piss me off when the price of oil is $37 and change.

  7. I’ve been wrenching at my buddies small engine repair business about a year now and a good portion of our work is repairing/replacing carbs and fuel systems, hoses, diaphragms, o-rings and needle seats/rubber tipped needles caused by ethanol in fuel. Even seen it turn plastic floats into brittle garbage. You don’t want to run 15% blend as manufacturers warn of engine failures on most current and past engines. Seeing the effects of ethanol fuel firsthand I only burn rec fuel (gas with no ethanol) and I use canned fuel in my handheld/small equipment. It’s a bit costly but so are parts and replacement equipment.

  8. @Jethro – Go to the store and by “StarTron” and add it to all your small engine fuel cans. It’s an enzyme that stops the reaction of ethanol on plastic parts – also retards gelling and aging of old gas. Got a chain saw that won’t start for the life of you but don’t want to disassemble it right now? Add StarTron, wait 24 hours. It creeps right into your carb jets and dissolves the junk.

  9. I buy E-0 from a farmer friend ($2.50/gal), run all my small engines on it. I feel sorry for anyone who can’t get it or has to pay through the nose for it. What really needs to happen is to allow refineries to make and sell E-0 to gas stations at a reasonable price then let the market decide.

  10. real non-ethanol gas is $3.65 a gallon in my 3-county region (& I got to go to the next county to get it) … use it for generator, snow-blower, pressure washer, stihl weed-eater, stihl backpack blower, 15-year old lawnmower.
use stihl chainsaw fuel for chainsaw … $6 a gallon … only use the chainsaw about 3-4 times a year, so worth it.
use battery operated leaf blowers, weed wacker, hedge trimmer, hand-tiller

    also many manually-operated terrain & flora-altering implements 🙂

  11. Ever notice the info on gas pumps – May contain upto 10% ethanol . This is 3d hand knowledge ( so you know it just has to be true) . A friend has a friend who test gasoline for compliance to octane & ethanol content. Who told him some brands are routinely above 10%. Sometimes upto 30% ethanol.
The Europeans are the smarter ones here. I don’t think any of them allow ethanol in their gas.

  12. It is great that he is giving states the right to chart their own paths but the world is awash with very cheap oil. It has been documented many times that it pushes up the price of food & cattle feed in most parts of the world. My mechanic also hates the effect of ethanol on engines, hoses, and mileage. IDK

Personally, I don’t care but I’d rather you boys turn you corn into Kentucky Straight rather than not so great fuel.

(i’m out so i’m having scotch tonight)

  13. …ok, if you don’t like arias about corn, maybe country songs…

“Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey
Whiskey makes my baby, feel a little frisky
Back roads are boggin’ up, my buddies pile up in my truck
We hunt our hunnies down, we take ’em into town
Start washin’ all our worries down the drain
    Rain is a good thing”
