Trump administration to ban Americans from downloading TikTok, WeChat on Sunday

The Trump administration announced Friday morning that it will ban Chinese-owned messaging and payment app WeChat effective Sunday and block new downloads of video-sharing app TikTok the same day over national security concerns.

A broader ban of TikTok will be delayed until Nov. 12, with a takeover of its U.S. operations still in the works.

“At the President’s direction, we have taken significant action to combat China’s malicious collection of American citizens’ personal data, while promoting our national values, democratic rules-based norms, and aggressive enforcement of U.S. laws and regulations,” Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in a statement. more

  1. A friend started sending me TikTok videos 6 months ago and I just told her then to stop, I’m not using a Chinese platform or downloading it to my phone. Some companies have banned it.. Many people aren’t aware and don’t think about the ramifications of using this crap. And TikTok is beloved by young people, her 11 year old son was sending her the videos. Target the kiddos.
