Posing for My Portrait, Part 1

Due to an overwhelming response from our lovely readers, this “Portrait” post will be split into two parts – Part 1 today and Part 2 next week. I don’t want to leave out any of our beloved critter portraits!

Images from:

1 Anymouse (Mia)
2 flip (Harry Rama) This fur bearin’ creature is Harry Rama, aka Wolf Boy. He’s a Cairn terrier/ cattle dog mix. He’ll be 15 this November. Harry is a tripawd; he lost his right rear leg to a ‘67 Monaco when he was two. I never knew how much I could care for an animal until I met this brave little pup.
3 Ghost (Heron) – Hudson River – Hastings on Hudson, NY.
4 Old Guy (Violet) as a kitten. Cute as can be.
5 Old Guy (Claude) the backyard enforcer. 19 lbs. and a 39” full stretch.
6 Old Guy (Verbena) our five year old tabby.
7 Buster Brown (Carlson)
8 Buster Brown (Tucker)
9 Miss Kitty (Miss Kitty) staring me down for more Temptation treat’s. I “Live the Life of Riley” round here.
10 Claudia (Pistol) Watching me work on Sunday’s Critter post.

  1. I wonder what the animals are thinking when their humans hold up “the box” to their faces and then a flash blinds them for a few seconds…
“Darn it! I thought I was getting a treat. Tricked again!”

  2. Sure miss having a dog, once I get moved would like to rescue a wayward doggy. My parent’s had Doxies running around the house their whole lives, the house is empty without them.

Happy Sunday everybody! Thank You Claudia for the time you spend, putting the critters gallery together for all to enjoy, 😺 🐶

  3. Wonderful pix. It’s a treat to see the pets of my conservative friends here.

I’ve read that hot dogs used to be called Dachshund wieners back in the early 20th century when they were first sold at ball parks. A sports reporter didn’t know how to spell Dachshund so in his report he just called them hot dogs. Ever since, they have been hot dogs.

  4. @Marco, we are indeed very fortunate owners. These dachshunds love us unconditionally, and we love them back the same way. And, we try our best to make sure they are the luckiest dogs on the planet!

  5. Hey Claudia. Great pics! I love the names of all these critters. Best when you know them. My boys knew it was Pistol as soon as they looked at the critters pics today. @anymosue, was that Mia that was screaming at us when we met you that day?

    God bless us all!

  6. Evenin’ everyone, spent a couple of nights in the ADKS, hence the LATE post. The service is a bit wonky way up there…

@ Miss Kitty – YOUR description is perfect for the mug shot…of…MISS KITTY!

@Buster Brown – lovely pair of docs you have there!

@slip – thanks for the clarification on the lost leg, I was looking maybe at that FUR a bit too much?

@Old Guy – Violet is saying – “LOOK into my eyes”…like a psychic or something!

Life gets BETTER when you meet the critters on the Critters Sunday…even IF you are barked the hell out of!!

Ha ha @Anymouse…I’m sure she was just being protective of the compound and manor when we met Mia!

@Claudia – Pistol did hang with us in the living room…that afternoon. Anthony had a GREAT time with him and fun talking about ‘Crazy Al’ the Bluebird hitting the window!

    Thanks C!
