It is with a heavy heart that I report that Blink has passed away. I received word from his daughter-in-law. I just spoke with Blink on my birthday. This was sudden. He passed on Saturday.

…perhaps the Lord is calling His faithful home to get them out of the way of the coming storm. Blink will have a far better December than any one he leaves behind will.
I’ve seen many die, slow and quick. I’ve seen people die at pain or at peace. I’ve seen families, even my own, struggle to make horrible decisions when a crisis leaves a person alive on life support but dead to the world, and seen long term xoma patients with bedsores to the bone because someone loves them so much they can’t let their emptied shell go, and I’ve seen people die so quick their expressions didn’t even register what happened to them.
We all, every one of us, must go to Heaven by the grave. There is no nice way to do that.
Given a choice, I would prefer a quick death, for my own and my family’s benefit. I do not know the particulars here, but perhaps it was a blessing that he passed so, given the alternatives.
Either way, we lose another patriot and our strength is diminished once more. But our loss is nothing compared to those that knew him well, loved him dearly, and will miss him terribly.
Blink has gone to his reward with his Lord, and has left his worldly cares far behind.
“54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”
1 Corinthians 15:54-55
Those who stand in need of prayer then are those who lived and loved with him, so we must remember them in our prayers.
Dear Lord, we stand before you once more to ask that You grant Your peace to those that mourn today. Please grant Your blessed assurance to those that our friend Blink, whose true name is known to You and loved by You, that he does continue in glory with You, and that those who mourn today might be drawn to You that they be reunited with Blink when they, in turn, leave this value of tears for the Hills of Glory. Please touch them and guide them, help them with what needs to be done, strengthen them to carry on and live as He lived, and give them the ability and the reason to smile through their tears in fond rememberace of what was, and in anticipation of what will be. We thank You for Your comforting Spirit, and ask that it fill the void that our friend leaves behind in the hearts of his nearest and dearest, comforting them with memories and with the hope that more than memory beyond the circles of the world lies ahead. And we ask this all in the most merciful name of our Lord Jesus, amen.
