The Wrap
Monday that it had acquired Bob Dylan’s entire catalog of songs in a deal that the New York Times estimated to be worth north of $300 million.
The deal includes 600-plus copyrights ranging from 1962’s “Blowin’ in the Wind” to 1964’s “The Times They Are A-Changin” to this year’s “Murder Most Foul” — a ballad about the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy that became the 79-year-old rock pioneer’s first No. 1 hit. More
Soon to be heard on TeeVee commercials all over the world.
what’s Joan Baez’s cut?
Now maybe someone with talent can actually sing these songs.
It has been collecting dust for years.
Confirmed: America’s modern balladeer is a…capitalist!
Oh.the.tragedy.
Mozel Tov Bob…you deserve it, that voice or not.
Who said Bobby Z wasn’t a capitalist?
He’s an encyclopedia on Americana and a convert to Christianity too.
You Gotta Serve Somebody
Bob Dylan on firearms…

Many here WILL be surprised, surprised, SURPRISED!
I read some time ago it started, his opinion on GUNS, was when HIPPIES would show up at the Big Pink in Saugerties, NY crawling around on his roof with his young family around.
My fav album from Dylan was Slow Train Comin.
Bob Zimmerman was in my oldest sisters class in High School in SF, SD.
Sounds to me like he’s ready to cash in…You can’t take it with you Zimmerman, pay any back taxes before you go!
Typical. Socialism or communism for you. The benefits of capitalism for me. Screw this guy.
I’ve kinda liked Dylan. He’s unique, you can’t take that away from him.
Hey mister folk singer man, can you spare a dime?
Didn’t the NYT lay-off a bunch of so-called workers in the last few years? Where did the get the money? If I were one of them, I’d be pissed. Postal pissed.
BTW, his songs aren’t worth $0.30 cents let alone $300,000,000…
F4UCorsair, yup, somebody got screwed.
Finally he can afford singing lessons.
I like Bob
I think you can get everything online for free?
Bob knows capital gains tax is gonna skyrocket after Biden gets crowned. So he cashed out. The guy is smarter than you give credit. Stevie Nicks did the same thing last week. I expect other will too.
Dylan already sold his archives to a museum in Tulsa, OK for an estimated $15-20 Million. So the catalog for $300 M is icing on the cake. People like David Geffen made huge money from the entertainment business went and got a med school named after them (UCLA now Geffen School of Medicine). So Bob Dylan is small potatoes in this realm. He seems more of a pragmatist though and got his original notes preserved and then a nice payout (no doubt a lot less than he has already made up to now) for his work.
Bob Dylans’ GREAT… like a rolling stone. Fuckin’ fools here calling him a communist? SMH…
@joe6 ~ yeah, so was Tiny Tim
Molon, yeah but Tiny Tim was unique for a year, at best. Bob Dylan has been unique for 60 years. And Dylan wrote his own songs, while Tiny Tiny is only known for massacring someone else’s work. Different strokes for different folks.
Saw him live twice, both shows sucked. That said, “Blood on the Tracks” is a fantastic album. Good for him on making a boatload of money, I would do the same if given the chance
Someone would have to pay ME to listen to Bob Dylan, and so far, no checks have arrived in my mailbox, so I guess I’ll continue to go without.
I never like Dylan. Tom Waits is another one that I can’t figure out why they are popular.
I liked him best as the Marshal on Gunsmoke.
I paid to see Dylan in an upscale theater.
I try to see these artists before they’re gone.
His voice was like mine when I get hit with a cold, or maybe allergies.
Not much singing involved.
But I saw him.
Dylan actually could sing, just like Picasso actually could paint.
They went with the public. I don’t see anything wrong with that.
I pleased myself (no off-color comments needed 🙂 ) and nobody cared, and I never made a dime doing music.
Can’t take it with you, Bobby.
Another pop culture contributor to the destruction of Western Civilization trying to cash in before it’s too late.
What a freakin’ idiot.

I like Tom Waits too!
I saw Dylan plenty. Always enjoyed it esp. with the Dead. Good for him to cash in before he cashes out.

Maybe he is looking at the bigger picture.
With the current political instability in the USA.
Coupled with Massive foretold TAX increases, IF Acting President Harris & the socialists take office.
I could see CASHING OUT and finding a TAX SHELTER UTOPIA is in order. Because Duluth, Minnesota is already far from that concept.
Plus he could be setting up a trust fund for Ex’s and 6 kids.
NOTE: US has 70 year Copyright laws and some of his early songs 1962+ only have maybe 12 years of coverage. Plus He even has works dating back to 1950’s with less than 5 years left on them
No one turns a lyric like Bob does.
If only he could sing worth a shit. Voice doesn’t seem to be mellowing over the years like Knopfler’s has.
Best album, Blood on The Tracks.
Funniest album?
Nashville Skyline, where he and none other than Johnny Cash perform a duet – priceless!
