Former Trump attorney Powell defends self against a $2.5 billion Smartmatic defamation lawsuit

Just the News- Former Trump attorney Sidney Powell is defending her comments about Smartmatic while trying to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election and is asking the courts  to dismiss the $2.5 billion defamation suit the election-technology company has filed against her.

“Smartmatic’s desperate attempt to suggest I was a part of a civil conspiracy to harm the company is not only false but also still does not allow me to be sued in New York,” Powell said Thursday in a statement. “Smartmatic fails to even remotely allege any way that I was a part of a conspiracy. And for the record, I was not.”

Smartmatic alleging Powell defamed the company in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election by claiming its software was hacked and compromised and further alleging that the company was under the corrupt control of dictators from socialist countries. more

  1. She’s gonna win any lawsuit against her because she’s right. And she has legit people with affidavits.[including one or two people who used the software when the US defrauded elections of other nations] They really don’t want to sue her, they’re just trying to scare her. Not working. lol

  2. She is a smart woman. She has done her homework and wins on the evidence. Believe her.

Besides: She is still doing her homework and fighting the battle when everyone else has gone home. Sidney Powell has put it all on the line and has nothing left to lose.

Meanwhile: We all have everything to lose.

But: Who is going to hear the case?

She’s trying to win on procedural and jurisdictional grounds so she won’t have to present any evidence if this article is reporting correctly.

Of course anyone would try to end a lawsuit as quickly and inexpensively as possible. Don’t assume she doesn’t have the evidence. Enough has been presented publicly already by her and Rudy to clearly show they have way more than enough.

  5. “Don’t assume she doesn’t have the evidence.”

    I don’t assume she doesn’t, and I don’t assume she does either.

So far she has tried her best to avoid presenting it to the point of saying, in effect, only the dumb would taker here claims seriously (her attempt at avoiding the Dominion lawsuit).

Other than Mike Lindell, who has said he welcomes Dominions lawsuit against him so he can rove his claims, none of the accusers seem to want to present their evidence in court.

FWIW, the cost of a defendant’s court costs against a plaintiff that loses are usually recoverable either in the original judgment or in the counter suit filed against the losing party, and usually real and punitive damages are available as well. For the most part, you try to get a case dismissed when you think you will lose it (an exception being frivolous and fictitious filings).

  6. Anonymous- She did present evidence. The court wouldn’t hear her.
She explained on camera how it happened and so have the people who have run those same programs in other countries tried to explain in court. But no one is interested in talking to them, either. Has even FOX called on any of those people after the election to speak? Newp. They’re not interested in deepstate whistleblowers.
