A progressive candidate backed by Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York lost a special congressional election in Louisiana on Saturday.
The election to fill the vacant seat of former Rep. Cedric Richmond, who joined the Biden administration as a senior adviser and director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, was won by state Sen. Troy Carter, an establishment Democrat, according to Politico.

They still voted in a democrat and at the end of the day they are all voting in lock step.
Still went Demo.
It’s in New Orleans. There are no Republicans in New Orleans.
Still voted a Demon
…I’ve been to NO. Maybe it makes more sense if you drink. A buddy of mine drinks and loves the place.
I don’t drink, so I don’t bother crossing the Causeway any more except to go to Drago’s in Metairie for the alligator nuggets and bread pudding.

Other than that, I’ll just stay in Covington till it’s time to go home, because from what I saw from earlier adventures in the French Quarter and the Lower 9th, this is pretty much a permanent Democrat stronghold, with all that goes WITH it…

The President in particular is very much a figurehead — he wields no real power whatsoever. He is apparently chosen by the government, but the qualities he is required to display are not those of leadership but those of finely judged outrage. For this reason the President is always a controversial choice, always an infuriating but fascinating character. His job is not to wield power but to draw attention away from it. On those criteria Zaphod Beeblebrox is one of the most successful Presidents the Galaxy has ever had — he has already spent two of his ten presidential years in prison for fraud.”
Douglas Adams, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”

To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.”
Douglas Adams, “The Restaurant at the End of the Universe”
