Mysteries of the rosary windows illuminate St. Mark Church
The 22 stained-glass windows were created by artist Ronald Dixon of Dixon Studio in Staunton, Va. Todd Hinkle, a craftsman of Dixon Studio, welded and installed the windows over the course of nearly two and a half years.
“The mysteries are grounded in the life of Christ on Earth, as viewed through the eyes of His apostles and followers,” explains Dixon’s wife, Annie. “Ron has portrayed them as scenes with activity and drama so viewers can meditate on the experience of the people portrayed. He used a rich color palette that includes a blue border and lots of physical background: green foliage, colored flowers, gray stone, brown wood, etc.
“The angels above the Gothic arch in each scene are portrayed in amber and act as an intermediary for Christ and for us, between heaven and earth, watching over the scenes, and occasionally participating,” she notes.

The Rosary of the Seven Sorrows, also known as the Chaplet of Seven Sorrows or the Servite Rosary, is a Rosary based prayer that originated with the Servite Order. It is often said in connection with the Seven Sorrows of Mary . It is a rosary consisting of a ring of seven groups of seven beads separated by a small medal depicting one of the sorrows of Mary, or a single bead.

That is some beautiful work. I especially love the deep colors. One thing I never understood, though (and maybe a good devout Catholic–a real one, not Slow Joe–can explain this), why does Jesus get a halo that looks like a life preserver and no-one else does?
Ron is a very gifted artist and a funny guy…why?
Because we (me and Mary Hatch and our two boys) met him and Annie on our iconic…never to forget IOTWr trip out west and back… along with meeting that Bird ^^^^ above!!

I purchased a print and gave it to my Mother-In-Law for Christmas. She loved it and currently has it displayed in her living room.

The Cruciform: This is a Halo that has the depiction of a cross in it. This is solely and exclusively used for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The depiction of the cross in the Halo is the reason it has its name, Cruciform.

That is really nice. I grew up at St. Paul’s Catholic church in Princeton, NJ and it was beautiful when the light shined through. And this is a step above.
But needless to say, I left the Catholic church and transitioned to Biblical Protestantism.

The windows are beautiful, but I would not attend a church with those installed.

The amount of work it took to make them.
You have to make a templet of each piece of glass and reduce it down to fit with the lead came into the window.
Cutting glass to fit in the lead is not easy.
Could be wrong but some of this looks painted like many windows.

Geoff, sorry for delay in responding. Pretty simple reason. God tells us not to make any image to worship. Any image or craft that attempts to depict Jesus would be an idol. We do not know what Jesus looks like (not one description in any Gospel). I believe idols limit your faith. They ‘filter’ it.
