RIP Slinky – IOTW Report

RIP Slinky

Always sad to hear…

Slinky is gone, we had her for 20 years. She had cancer, we vowed no heroic measures.  She was 100 in cat years.  I’m glad I have BFH’s portrait.
Sometimes I think I see her out of the corner of my eye.  Sometimes I imagine she is curled up next to my chair in her little bed.

  1. Sorry for your loss, Z.

The portrait will keep the good memories with you, trust me here. BFH immortalizes our buddies in a truly wonderful way.

20 years is a great life for a great cat.

  2. So very sorry, Zonga. They are so sweet and mean so much, especially after so much time…they live in your heart always.

One of my cats died when she was 20 years old, too. A part of me was ripped away when the vet came out to say that my Jessie had inoperable cancer. That possibility had never occurred to me. I lost it in the waiting room; the vet allowed me to come into the operating room and give her one last cuddle while she was on the operating table, with tubes in her and on a ventilator. I will never forget how that felt.

  3. …God bless and comfort you, Zonga, I lost one of my fur babies to old age here recently, so I know how that can be for everyone who’s life she touched. Pets are a gift of God’s love, and when it’s your time I do believe he’ll gift that love to you again, but the next time you’ll be together forever with Him.

And it’s wonderful that you had BFH capture her, as only an artist like he can. He has a gift for putting the essence of a pet he never met on canvas, and it’s a solace to have it as the pain fades to fond remembrance, that silently tells all who pass part of the story of the small life that was entwined with yours for so long.

She’s healed of all her hurts and her age and playing happily at the Lord’s feet, and you will be reunited in the Lord’s time.

“19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.”
    Romans 8:19-21

    God Bless,

  5. I’m so sorry for you, Zonga. I know all too well the pain. I will pray, as you recover, you will eventually treasure the time you had together. The memories are so precious and Fur’s painting will help Slinky live on in your heart. My three portraits hang above my computer and I smile at each one remembering their distinct personalities. Our fur critters are so special.

  6. Remember me always, but do not grieve for me too long. I have tried always to comfort you in times of sorrow, and have made every effort to add joy to your life. I never wanted to cause you pain.

Peace for me is certain now, and I suspect I will have eternal sleep in the earth I have loved so well.

Please, after your period of grieving for me, make room in your heart for another. You are the kind of human being that should always have a friend like me to love. Your kind and gentle heart should not be wasted on my memory for too long. Give your love to another. I know your new friend will never take my place, because we had something very special.

You loved me very much and I loved you. My spirit will always be with you, and no matter how deep my sleep, my grateful heart will always be purring for you.
