Seattle Children’s Hospital is looking for children as young as six months old to take part in COVID-19 vaccine trials.
The goal is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a two-dose COVID vaccine in healthy children between the ages of six months and 11 years old, according to a fact sheet released by the hospital.
Children who take part in the trials, led by principal investigator Dr. Janet Englund, would be vaccinated, then later have their blood drawn to measure COVID antibodies.
Patricipants would also record their reactions to the shots, receive nasal swabs and make periodic visits to the hospital over a two-year period.
The hospital is looking for children who have a healthy immune system and have a parent who can communicate with the study staff by phone.
Some children could receive up to four shots during the trial, as some of them may get a placebo first and the vaccine later.
Participants would receive $100 for each planned clinic visit and $5 for each full week of a complete e-diary.
