Film and TV actor Ned Beatty, who was Oscar nominated for his supporting role in “Network” and appeared in a number of the most significant American films of the 1970s, has died. He was 83.
Beatty’s management confirmed his death to Variety, adding that he died from natural causes on Sunday morning surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Los Angeles.
Beatty appeared in four films that were nominated for the Oscar best picture award in the 1970s: “Deliverance” (1972), “Nashville” (1975), “All the President’s Men” (1976) and “Network” (1976). In addition, he voiced a character, Lotso, in 2010’s “Toy Story 3,” which was also nominated. More
Loved his tie in “Superman!” 😉
“Natural causes”… last year, it would have been covid. Progress, I guess. Unless he’d just gotten the jab.
Squeeeeeee!
The primal forces of nature came for him.
I’ve always enjoyed his acting, even playing some of his villainous character rolls he came across as humorous and likable.
RIP Ned. Good run.
The fact that I’m not knowledgeable about his politics says that either my void of the Hollyweird knowledge is great or maybe he was a good man.
Maybe both…

RIP
Enjoyed his work.
Good actor. But, I can never cleanse the mental picture of him going Weeeee Weeeeee.
I think he regretted that scene. Spoke truth in Network, though.
Anymouse-
He voted for Jesse Jackass in 1988.
So…..
DELIVERANCE DIRECTOR: “HAVE YOU READ THE SCRIPT, NED?
BEATTY: “I READ HALF OF IT…FFS, YOU WANT ME TO DO WHAT???!!!”
People talk about EYES WIDE SHUT but his speech in NETWORK about the real powers that be ranks up there as one of the best glimpses into how things actually work.
He was also good as he undercover fed in SILVER STREAK.
He was fantastic in “Back To School” as Dean Martin! One of my favorite comedies of all time.
