  1. I actually have herd it many times the last 77 years. But it was good to hear agin!

I am very old; but I think Ronny’s America is worth fighting for! And am willing to die for it!

As I was 54 yers ago!
But ; I believed, as the kid 20 miles from here said, “The object is not to give my life for America; but to make the liberal give his life for liberalism!”!

OK The quote is not totally right.

… the only country in the history of the world to founded on an idea

all citizens of this country, this United States, should never … ever apologize for what our ancestors created

show me one other country that has sacrificed so much, given so much & asked so little in return to the rest of the world for those sacrifices … if you can find such a regime please go there with all such haste. I’ll even get up a fund for your immediate departure

  3. I agree that this is a very good version. However, Mr. Key wrote this as a poem, not a song. I know, it is a trivial difference, but I do want to make the distinction. I am thrilled that this version became our National Anthem. I will not denigrate any other versions because I have not heard them. Regardless, the current version sets a very high bar, and I do stand, put my hand over my heart and recite the pledge whenever it is appropriate.
If you do not accept my beliefs (still waiting for someone to disagree), then I support your beliefs. All I ask is that you give me a calm and factual debate.

Still waiting for takers. I will even admit I am not a genius. I am not the best person for that debate, but I will willingly accept the conversation and if you can successfully argue your point, I will accept it and willingly move on

  4. @RogerF(trademark) ~ Key himself took the poem to music publisher Thomas Carr, who set it to a ditty of the Society of Anacreon’s (a gourmand’ group) theme song “To Anacreon in Heaven” which established the theme to the National Anthem long before it became the ‘official’ song … the music that we play today

not a debate … it is what it is

PS … not really sure what your debate is all about … just trying to give some info on the subject
