2 Pit Bulls Protect Home From Intruder, Killing Him, and Authorities Contemplate Euthanizing Them

Two pit bulls fatally mauled a suspected intruder in Georgia, leaving the body on their owner’s front porch, authorities said.

Alex Binyam Abraha, 21, of Atlanta, was found early on Sept. 24 by the homeowner in Coweta County, where authorities said evidence shows he was inside the residence at some point, WAGA reported.

The homeowner, who was not publicly identified, returned to his Newnan residence last Friday morning and made the grisly find on his porch, investigators said.

“[The] homeowner doesn’t know him, wasn’t expecting him, was not home at the time,” Investigator Toby Nix of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office told the station.

An autopsy revealed Abraha, who had warrants out for his arrest in Fulton County, had been fatally mauled by the dogs. Authorities believe he had broken into the home and encountered the animals, but an investigation is ongoing, WAGA reported.

No charges will be filed against the homeowner, although the fate of his canine companions is unclear.

  3. The dogs were performing their doggy duties. Doesn’t mean only a pitbull protects homes. One of my dogs would not take kindly to someone entering my home without an introduction by me.

    Dogs deserve a steak and a good grooming if you ask me.

    The fact that he got back outside (or the dogs drug him out) only testifies to their training.

    Yeah, let’s tell the criminals that if the homeowner isn’t home then there is nothing (i.e., no dog) to prevent you from breaking in and stealing what you want.

    What’s your home address? I’ll broadcast it across the internet so criminals know that you don’t have a guard dog.

  29. I no longer own a dog. I still have a sign up and a home brew micro-controller that plays a nicely toned, mp3, snarling dog bark every time someone knocks on the door. With a varying time between the snarling to make it seem authentic.

  37. My pit pays zero attention to strangers. Couldn’t give a rat’s ass. Other animals though, look out. She wants to kill all of them. Except our backyard chickens. The chickens chase her!
