Australia- HIA: ‘Reopening NSW and Northern NSW’

Remember all those goon-police facing off with construction workers in Australia? The Goon-Police just buckled. No mas. I think if everyone keeps this up for two more weeks, we will be through the wort of it. Just stand tall for two weeks. -Patrick Byrne. [Telegram]

HIA:– What you need to know from 11 October.

October 05, 2021

Members would be aware that during the course of the last month the NSW Government has made a number of announcements regarding the plan to reopen NSW.

HIA can now confirm that from 11 October all of the current restrictions that apply to the residential building industry, including the vaccination requirements for authorised workers, travel restrictions and the limits on renovation work will be lifted.

HIA has been strongly advocating for the lifting of these restrictions, particularly for the renovation sector that has been heavy restricted during the last three months.

While some COVID-19 health and hygiene requirements will remain in place HIA is pleased to see that the NSW Government has acknowledged that our industry can operate in a COVID safe manner.

What are the COVID-19 rules from 11 October?

From Monday 11 October all construction sites will need to comply with the following COVID-19 rules:

  • Face masks must be worn indoors at all times unless an exemption applies.
  • Density limits of:
    • 1 person per 4 square metres applies to all indoor premises.
    • 1 person per 2 square metres applies to all outdoor premises.
  • QR Codes continue to be required at unoccupied construction sites.
  • COVIDSafe plans continue to be required on unoccupied construction sites in Greater Sydney.
  • All other COVID safe measures being adopted including physical distancing and all other COVID health and hygiene requirements.

Renovation work allowed to recommence

From Monday 11 October, all renovation work at occupied homes can recommence.

This means that the current limit of two workers for indoor work will be removed. MORE HERE

  1. I worked a lot in Australia and most people I met there were friendly, happy go lucky with a devil-may-care attitude.
They let authoritarians gain power long ago and gave up their guns for “the greater good.”
The chickens finally came home to roost.
It hurts my heart to see what has happened to them.
They are a good people as a whole and hopefully they are wide awake now.
Of course many could say the same about the USA…
